Carbon Star

Carbon Star

If I spent a moment in quiet rapture

Speaking thoughts to a night that doesn't hear

Would the wind carry my fearful revelation

Or would the calm dark swallow the effort in my relief?

Would you believe such an obligation present

I might be despondent for fear of responsibility calling

Out of the shadows where I have no wish to venture

Footsteps are a peculiar thing, leaving more than imprints

May you follow behind to erase where I have been

So that not a soul could find me in my indecision

To find a smooth stone and some reason

I might regret the rock's unnoticed death

I've heard the most brilliant stars blind then die

A dramatic passing that goes unnoticed for untold years

Such a thing is not meant to last, only so much energy

Two paths, two options, am I asking which is the less painful?

I've damaged much in my little years

Those things now reside in the back of a hidden mind

I've inquired to a hope, I wish the easier path was held in favor

But invisibility cannot cover essence or conviction

The granite and the diamond compose the form before you

Such opposites create a whole, though not without torment

A muddled pool of clarity and opaqueness will lie bare

Another soul will soon understand it, while I will disappear

seekerovtruth You should consider having your work published. The way you describe things is so detailed, and fresh. It's very good.
