Rainbows
As a child I believed without independent a mind
I believed in magic, in dreams, and the impossible
The thing was I thought it was real, so did the adults
Sitting back watching holistic coaches, classes, the fantastic
Grown adults telling me I was an Indigo Child
I tangled with animal communicators and angels,
People who said they could see the unseen
I was at the front lines of acupuncture, hypnosis
Muscle testing and spiritual healing
They kept asking with fervor if I could see it too
There were tellings of unseen colors
Of horse healing powers and I was enveloped
They told me that I could fly in dreams and see the truth
The spiritual connection with the earth and creator
I stayed in the class and tried like the others to throw energy
I spent days with friends as my mother tried to learn
The coaches read my palms and told me I would be a leader
I was a child and I believed them, I had glimpsed fate
Necklaces and crystals were dowsed, incense burned
My mother held hands with the elders, contacting the dead
The people took me in the back and the woman saw my past
Retelling a last life filled with slavery and death
I learned I was a black woman and my mother was my child
The people in this life were in all the ones through time
The fire told stories and they were all real
My childhood was odd, my beliefs sold
Whether the truth or a lie I try not to negotiate
Perhaps those events are what tailored my rigid mind
A religion in science, a skeptical belief
But those paths lead me here, and I am grateful.

| *looks taken aback* How is this getting rated up so quickly? I'm agnostic, and thank you jazz2492. That's very nice. |
