Deadly Water

Light reflects off the water
Moves as if alive
Like a snake over sand.
Light dancing across the water,
Like lovers dancing on their wedding day.
Light glittering in the darkness,
Playing across your face,
Shining off my earrings.

The ripples are s p r e a d i n g
Marring the mirror like surface of the water.
Light reflected now turns red.
Your cold body moves silently.

The ripples die and the water once more is still,
Still as your lifeless body.
