My Decision

Mother

Why do you always tell me to leave?

I guess I'm kind of hard for you to believe.

To believe that what I'm talking to you about really matters,

and when you just ignore me, my fellings seem to scatter.

It almost feels like you don't care,

even though you've always been there.

You've given me life, but you've also given me pain,

and though it's all too simple, I know, from this I have nothing to gain.

I can't leave here or say goodbye,

so all I can do for now is try.

Try to get you to notice and understand,

that you should know you were the first to hold my hand.

What I'll do now is sit back and wait,

and hope that my forgiveness isn't too late.

I know you love me like you do the rest,

but it's  always that you seem to love them  the best.

I guess I'll keep remembering all the things you've done for me,

and hope that you'll continue to care, we'll just have to wait and see.

I love you dearly, just as my sister and brothers,

but the love goes deeper just for the fact that you're my mother.

This made me cry. I can relate to your poem. My mother left me when I was really young, and it hurts me day by day and night by night. Keep writing poems for me to read, Good Luck. Thanks..

This really touched me, because I am a mother to one preteen girl. I do so much thru the day and by the time my daughter gets home I am so tired, but still have so much to do. With out thinking of how I make her feel, I tell her to go watch t.v or listen to music etc... I hardly ever take the time to listen to what she has to say. The feelings of guilt I am having right now....Reading this left me in tears and made me realize that even tho I love my child and work hard to provide her with her "stoor bought" needs I am leaving one important need out. Thanks for opening my eyes! This is an awesome poem!

kelperz Wonderful poem. Be strong, make your life your own and come to terms that your mother will probably never treat you the way you want her to. My father still treats me like I am 16, and I am a 23 year old mother!!...he is just an ill man and even though it's one of the hardest things I have ever had to deal with, I still have my life to live.....as do you, so go on and live your life to your fullest :)
