Snowflake Imagery
In the mist of a chorus falls the melody
Of particle snowflake and reflective ice
Remnants of a shattered chandelier
Whose crystals descend to unpaved streets
Landing on grey jackets, mittens, and gloves
Freezing over damped sleeked back hair
Bringing sensations of fireplace meanings,
Winter romances, and holiday cheers
Snowfall outshines the brightest of suns
On beaten down summers of sunburns
And lotion, brought to chlorine pools
But diluted in the rapids of a waterslide
And is more tranquil than rainwater streams
Flowing the length of short gravel roads
Caught between concrete and skid marks
Drained rapidly by curve-stone gutters
Only in winter can one curl up in warmth
To exhale frost from cherry-red nasals
Sip cocoa on the hearth by flickering flames
And smile at the first White Christmas in decades
