Haterful Skies

Protection of the Hound

Coal demon eyes like vacuums of shadows
In alleys of tinted paws and dull-silver claws
Meat-tearing fags snarl through his leather lips
Vibrating “absolution” from a million shattering howls

A hound built as sturdy as Cerberus’s chains
Racing a blur past  families of pursued gazelle
Sniffing with omnipotence the caverns of society
Picking scraps of discord from arson and treason

Rumored in the underworld; fabled as a beast
Tracking bounties of vigilance, chaos, and destruction
Protecting defenseless towns from foreseen massacres
By roaring the face off cowardly instigation

Beloved by the townsfolk who sleep in his comfort
Offering gratitude pets and nourishing-raw steak
He answers back with a tongue-lick of promise
To uphold justice in the midnights of turmoil
