Why?

I lie here on a hill of long green grass

Staring up into the star filled sky

My eyes water and appear like glass

All I can do is wonder why…

You let me think you liked me so

And I liked you back with so much more

But in the end I was filled with woe

I’m just not able to ignore…

I’m sorry you think it would not work

Cause while I sit and think it would,

I feel you acted like such a quirk

But you and I both know we understood…

You said relationships can end in shit

And turn people into those with out a friend

But do you really think we could not achieve it?

That is something I did not intend…

I toss and turn as rain drops fall upon my skin

The chill soaks down in each and every bone

Partly ‘cause of what I did imagine

My eternal thoughts can easily be shone…

Of course we know that this is for the better

Yet is there still no point in trying?

Trust me; this is no love letter

This is the answer for my endless crying…

I know that neither you nor I want a damaged friendship

But still, what happened hurts my pounding heart

Yet in my head can I see us drawn together, lip to lip

But no, this will never happen for we will always be apart…

I think these as I lay among the blades of fresh dewed grass

With my tearful, reddened eyes staring deep into the sky

Each appearing like a marble made of glass

And still, all I can do is wonder why…
