Tree Hugger

Love those trees
Hug those trees
Don’t let them be put down
Don’t take them away from their ground
Let them be
Let them stand free

These trees, lifeless
As hollow as our souls
Lumbered as hearts with holes
Cardboarded and paper-made
Furnitured and recreated blades
Dead to the core now, numbless

Once living and pure of Earth
Now shrivelled and shredded to burning heaths

So keep them close,
Closer to your heart
Hold them in your arms,
Embrace to end their hurt

Once standing tall
With the wisdom of Nature’s abilities
Now powerless
To provide the naturalness of air’s capabilities

Love those trees
Hug those trees
Don’t let them be put down
Don’t let take them away from their ground
Let them be
Let them stand free

Plowed down and cut to blocks
Shipped about to the unknowns
Used for humanities mistaken drones
Put into an ordered place
Stepped on and disgraced
Unmovable now in surprised shock

No matter how much we try to replant
Rebuilding those wastelands
It is not the same
Will never be the same

So keep them close,
Closer to your beating heart
Hold them in your arms,
Embrace them to end their hurt

No matter how hard we try
Not to use the materialistic fuses
It is of no use
Nothing can slow them down
The evil processes planned
By the lumber companies all around

Love those trees
Hug those trees
Don’t let them be put down
Don’t let them be taken from their ground
Let them be
Let them stand free

Please, save those trees
Help me…
Help me to save them, please…

AlexINTJ great!! If I showed this to my mother she would probably burst into tears--she loves trees. this makes me kinda sad--I live in oregon which is like one gigantic forest at times, which also means there's a huge logging industry and the foothills are cut out in sections...yeah I really feel this poem. I think I'm going to take a break to hug my willow in the back yard... : ) this was just beautiful!!!
