Way to peace

Way to peace

She turned her face towards the ground

To hide her tear stained complexion.

The haunting voices "another round"

Tore away all her protection.

Slowly sinking to the floor,

She picks up the worn out flask,

Another sallow closer to death

The only way to shed the mask.

No more stressing with the way she is feeling,

The end is seeping through.

She knew the danger, yet starts to mix

Held tight as the poison grew.

One more breath is all it takes.

She retracts.

Closes her eyes.

Extracts.

It’s over now, no more suffering.

Years of lost pain.

She’s gone now.

Her spirits mocking of all she failed to gain.

She’s removed from her body with such care, such grace,

leaving behind her angelic form.

A single tear falls

As she floats off to space.

The tremendous sounds of tears

flood down his distraught eyes.

He looks down at her toxic slumped body,

No one can hear his cries.

He lost the one he loved

Nothing remains but dust.

The murderous stench of alcohol

runs thickly through the musk.

All this time playing sober

he had lost sight of his task.

"We will meet again" he shouted.

And grabbed for the taunting flask.

Moments later

he fell.

Draped over her.

Dead.

They were found by a little boy

No more than six or seven.

He closed his eyes and prayed.

The prayer that sent them to heaven.

When God received the distraught pair

And the small boys prayer.

He smiled, kindly

And answered in utmost care.

"My children I gave you a precious life,

One you put to shame.

But as my son has shown to me,

you need another aim."

"One more shot, you shall receive,

Return to earth.

Stop the grieve.

Be at peace."
