The Dream
What a dream it was when,
Thinking of you, I remembered
Your very essence in my life –
Soft and pure, sweet and strong,
Holding the keys to my heart.
And, turning, I spied you there
Smiling, standing in the breeze,
Burgundy coat tossing and waving.
I ran to you, every ounce of
Care, love, dedication, joy
Poured into my expression, my flight
You took my hand and steered me
Away from the street, away from
Silence; cold, harsh light and fear
Together approached the field
Ice-cold in the moonlight
Juniper surrounded the grass,
Lamplight etched the scene in my mind
The frost seeped through my bones,
Filling me with chilled delight, as
My love for you bled warmth through
My disposition. Through rosy shades
The world opened anew before my eyes
Together we strode, hand in hand
Through the blue-white starry night.
Awaking, I recalled my dream,
Looked back on all the precious moments,
And again, I thought of you. This time,
I remembered every smile, laugh, all;
I remembered it all anew.
