The Lion-Ape |
Before You Fall
In the midst of silence
a flame lights in my heart,
longing for desire
as I have done from the start.
And when it comes to me,
rain falls down my head.
Rather than lust,
I am crying instead.
I try to be happy
as the skies fall to grey.
The lingering solitude
pushes me astray.
You hold me close
in your concern.
It has come to show
that you have learned:
I am alone,
paralyzed in grief.
Almost gone,
I begin to speak:
I never meant to do anything wrong.
Hopefully you will read this song.
An apology denied,
I will deserve.
It has come to show what you have learned:
I am dead,
a passing soul,
and in the great realm,
I shall play my role:
I will watch over you.
My spirit stays there.
Alongside you,
and with my heir.
And yes, I look mortal.
You see me every day,
but sometimes
the lingering solitude will push me astray.
And in my loyalty,
I will call
to die again (over and over)
before you fall.
