The Lights On The Water

Lights on the water.

Blurred and bright.

I sit on the front porch.

Admiring the night.

I feel my head spinning.

I look back through the years.

Embracing the laughter.

Understanding the tears.

I miss the one,

who has my heart.

Too long the time,

that we have been apart.

I look at the water.

Seeing my existence.

It’s there in the light.

Offering assistance.

I dip my toes in.

Testing the tide.

Feeling the warmth.

Keeping my pride.

I wade through the water.

I feel the weight lifting.

I slip under the surface.

Barely shifting.

The water is dark.

Almost mesmerizing.

I feel all around me.

It’s hypnotizing.

The water takes me.

But I am not afraid.

I move on to the next life.

Memories fade.

But the lights.

The lights on the water.

Benitto420 Wow, this actually brought back feelings and memories of being by the lake late at night and swimming under the stars. Very beautiful poem!
