Meaning. |
The Lights On The Water
Lights on the water.
Blurred and bright.
I sit on the front porch.
Admiring the night.
I feel my head spinning.
I look back through the years.
Embracing the laughter.
Understanding the tears.
I miss the one,
who has my heart.
Too long the time,
that we have been apart.
I look at the water.
Seeing my existence.
It’s there in the light.
Offering assistance.
I dip my toes in.
Testing the tide.
Feeling the warmth.
Keeping my pride.
I wade through the water.
I feel the weight lifting.
I slip under the surface.
Barely shifting.
The water is dark.
Almost mesmerizing.
I feel all around me.
It’s hypnotizing.
The water takes me.
But I am not afraid.
I move on to the next life.
Memories fade.
But the lights.
The lights on the water.

| Wow, this actually brought back feelings and memories of being by the lake late at night and swimming under the stars. Very beautiful poem! |
