Because It Happened
Even in the end.
Because it happened.
You don’t know it yet, but it did.
The water broke through the paper and lifted away the lettering until it was untarnished and clean.
No evidence.
But the silent promise that this thing; this deliberated punishment would vacillate between our two hearts until we were undecided.
Until it was so probable that we would give up and leave. But we didn’t.
It happened. You just don’t know it yet.
There was a feeling that bended under the weight of your pretentions.
But that’s over now. Over now and done.
And the chalkboard is still covered with it’s past.
But we step forward instead and let the coldness of the new, embrace us.
Because it happened.
You don’t know it yet, but I do.
Maybe you can understand now.
And you’ll see that it wasn’t just infatuation.
Even in the end.
