I’ve stood in the corner
I’ve watched the days go bye
I’ve seen how you’ve stayed there
And held me when I cried
Down on my knees
Begging for one more chance
Holding out my hand
“May I have This Dance?”
I have rejected you
I have led myself astray
I’m lost in the shadows
Far from the glow of day
I call to you
For a shimmer of your glorious light
To brighten up this dark
And twisted midsummer’s night
I want to go home with you
I want to be there in your land
But the further I walk away
The less you can offer your hand
Father, I have forsaken myself
I can’t even see
Why you would give up your life
For someone as worthless as me
Glancing at my shadow
I turn around too quick
And life cuts me deep
Leaving a small nick
I follow you
Even though your footsteps I can’t see
I close my eyes in shame
And I ask you to help me believe
My mind is but a tool
My words your work of art
But as I write this
Your masterpiece is falling apart
I am hurting
For something I can not have
If it wasn’t meant to be…
Why do I have the emotions and a painful throbbing stab?
It makes no sense…
But I’m too weary too go on
I’ll just sit here and wait…
And let my feelings turn to stone
