Serendipity |
Brokendown Fairy
She remembers a time when wishes were granted
At the wave of her wand everything was enchanted
Her sparkle that once set her wings alight
Faded like a robber slinking into the night
Her wings that once helped her soar through the air
Lay down at her sides limp and threadbare
She laments in song her deep battle scars
That deprived this fairy of her exuberant charms
See she spent all her time granting wishes of nations
It left little time for self preservation
And through taking on all the woes of the world
She became a woman when she was really a girl
So selfless and caring and protective of others
But she needed to be protected and loved and mothered
The sparkle she gave in pieces to many
Was what she needed in return but didn’t get any
There are times when you see her dress start to shimmer
And at those times there is hope if only a glimmer
A kind word, a gesture, some love and understanding
Begin to repair the scars of a life so demanding
Our fairy princess may be war torn and bruised
Feeling hurt and lost, alone and abused
But through acts of friendship and selfless kindness
She’ll discover that magic is deeper inside us.
