In turmoil my soul does stay

You keep the pain within my reach

I cry you laugh and I dare not speak.

You shape me mold me take my soul

Nothing inside my soul is cold.

I murmur the answers you wish to hear

Longing for my own voice, but yet I fear.

Aware I am made by the back of your hand

My place in this world is for you to hold.

Crying deep inside I do

Tears on my cheek are only a few.

My life are motions, listless abounds

No one seems to notice the bruises and frowns.

Oblivious they are or uncaring they seem

I hear his boots on the hardwood floor

The sound stops outside my door, the knob turns

A gun shot rings out……

Sirens I hear from near and far

The fear I had felt is no more.

I crawl in the corner, his blood on my face

He who lay upon the floor
