Were you scared without a hand to hold?

I am sorry I wasn’t there.

I’m sorry you thought I did not care.

I wondered each and every day

And hoped God would help you in his way

Now ten years has passed

Could we, should we, discuss all the years we missed

Children, our hearts and minds seemed to be

Why couldn’t we forgive so we could see.

The years missed could have been much more.

Laughter, joy, sadness, together alone no more.

I have an idea

Hope you would agree

Allow our friendship a new start

One step at a time we shall see.

Missed years we can not capture

Future ones are ours to hold.
