Veteran

The wind was blowing a gentle spring breeze. The smell of new beginnings hung in the air. The birds flew free and the deer got a scare when they noticed and old man sitting right there....He was a veteran.

He thought of his old fighting days in the Second World War, he couldn't help but remember the blood and the gore. Every haunting image made his old heart sore.

For he was a Recon Ranger in the United States Marines, shipped overseas to take down the Nazi's. He was a man, only nineteen years old. A United States Marine, so strong and so bold.

Every night through every day, he'd stay tough. But some of the time he'd think "haven't I had enough?" He'd then think of the love of his life, and realize it was all worth the strife.

But the love for one person, or maybe even two, could not make him forget his loyalty to the red, white and blue. As he fought alongside his new sisters and bros. they'd help each other take down any new foe. He pays his respects to his Conrad's who gave it their all. Because of them, America still stands tall.

Since then, his life has changed. He his older and aged. Once just his lover, is now his forever. They have raised two in their home together. One great deserves another, he followed in the footsteps of his now late father. He's cleared the way for his daughter and son. But not everything is all said and done....

There are many men dead, so we can sleep in peace when we lay down our heads. Many honor the fallen on the day of rememberance, but what about the heroes that still stand before us? We should all be glad to live in the land of the free.I'll never forget the men and women who gave that right to me. There's pride in every American Heart and we need to stand up and say "God Bless The U.S.A."
