Kamikaze Raindrops |
Alarm Clock
Your numbers red charge me with sloth
They burn into my retinas
How I regret the day I bought
A clock that does accuse me thus.
Six o' clock, your shrieking calls,
And with a heavy, weary fist
I beat away your screeching squall
With snooze: nine minutes of desist.
I roll back under all the quilts
Although I know that you'll return.
I'll stumble up, I'll stretch and tilt,
Oh, for a bit more sleep I yearn.
But you, my enemy, my foe,
You force me from my slumber.
Someday I'll get you back, you know,
Beware! I've got your number.
They burn into my retinas
How I regret the day I bought
A clock that does accuse me thus.
Six o' clock, your shrieking calls,
And with a heavy, weary fist
I beat away your screeching squall
With snooze: nine minutes of desist.
I roll back under all the quilts
Although I know that you'll return.
I'll stumble up, I'll stretch and tilt,
Oh, for a bit more sleep I yearn.
But you, my enemy, my foe,
You force me from my slumber.
Someday I'll get you back, you know,
Beware! I've got your number.
