Reality

Beauty grows from cruelty.

Tall, thin flowers sway in the breeze.

Gentle
purples. Soft, delicate pinks.

Grass grows thick and strong.
Dandelions lose their seed all day long.

Ants work overtime.
Building their homes, gathering a mighty feast.

Would anybody imagine I lay a corpse beneath the
trees.
With all their roots growing about my knees.
Shot in the war.

Summer of 1913.

Smiling at that German soldier I always shall regret.

One little thing brings me peace.

From this fast
cruelty grows a careful beauty.
