Pieces of the Torn

I cross these two lines

One red

The other yellow

Fingers latched together

Behind my back

Silently praying

As rays of gold slowly cross the two lines

Grasping my skin

Blinding my eyes

Stumbling forward

Rapid breaths

Heart rate soars

One blink

In between two lines

One red

The other yellow

Twisting and turning

The gold shine won’t let go

Pushing me a step forward

The strength weakens my grasp on reality

I fight hard to let go

I want both

Stepping back

My mind thrusts

My hand licks the gold

Splattering it

I jump back before it recoils

Across the red line I go

Blood thirst emotions roar with rage

Dashing for the yellow

The gold holds my throat

Tumbling further into the darkness

I inhaled my last

While the red dust exhales its own

Determination and Strength

Prove its worth

Breaking through the gold

Reaching the yellow line

I collapsed

While the yellow and red combine

And the gold vanishes with evil fury it withholds

The gold is beauty with a lie as dark as the black line of its own
