He Says |
Paper or Plastic?
You rip and tear at my paper thin heart
Telling me I’m not pretty, I’m not smart
I’ll never be good enough as my own
Nobody wants me, I’ll always be alone
Unless I strip myself of every single flaw
Leaving myself exposed, open, and raw
Then casing myself up with artificial me
A faultless personification of everybody
Bend with the crowd, rubber band elastic
With perfection carved out of plastic
But I’m not going to be synthetically done
As uniquely the same just like everyone
I may be paper but at least I decide what I feel
Each crinkle makes me diverse and real
I’m not going to hide my imperfections
Because they make me of my own selection
So this is who I am of my individual design
Like it or not, nobody ever shall define
I won’t bend with the crowd like elastic
My perfection isn’t carved out of plastic
Telling me I’m not pretty, I’m not smart
I’ll never be good enough as my own
Nobody wants me, I’ll always be alone
Unless I strip myself of every single flaw
Leaving myself exposed, open, and raw
Then casing myself up with artificial me
A faultless personification of everybody
Bend with the crowd, rubber band elastic
With perfection carved out of plastic
But I’m not going to be synthetically done
As uniquely the same just like everyone
I may be paper but at least I decide what I feel
Each crinkle makes me diverse and real
I’m not going to hide my imperfections
Because they make me of my own selection
So this is who I am of my individual design
Like it or not, nobody ever shall define
I won’t bend with the crowd like elastic
My perfection isn’t carved out of plastic
