Remembering is Painful [the anniversary]

Today is the day

The day I remember

The day I hope to forget

The day Death shook my world off its hinges

And left me trashed and scattered

I know I must not forget you,

But remembering is so hard

Remembering you shatters me

When I know you will no be here for me no longer

Tonight I might cry

But it won’t make me stronger

Now my eyes are cracked and dry

Tears were once a friend of mine

But no, they are the enemy, they left me stupid and blind

I try to tell myself that you are always here

In my heart

Like you always told me

That was over a year ago, and I hate to say it,

But its not the same

My heart is still frozen with fear

Still bleeding from its wounds of Death’s call

I may never love again

Well it has been one heck of a year without you

Well, it was a year

But I didn’t like it

And I’ve been telling myself its time to move on

Well, I’m afraid I’m not ready to let go….
