“So, you all set?” Nick questioned me, as I wobbled unsteadily on my mom’s old bike at the end of the driveway.
“Um, y-ya.” I got on the bike and peddled a few feet.
“Well let’s go then.” He began peddling and sped off in front of me.
“Hey, no! Wait up!” I switched gears on the bike and attempted to catch up with him.
“Not a chance.” He switched into a higher gear and began going even faster.
“No fair!” I yelled as I struggled to catch up to him. After a small amount of time he was gone from sight, and I stopped and got off the bike.
I saw him riding back towards me after a few minutes.
“I told you.” I stuck my tongue at him. “I’m not good at exercising.”
“Oh, sorry.” He laughed. “We can just hang out at your house instead.”
“It’s no problem.” I turned the bike around. “Wait, I have a better idea.”
“What?” He stopped.
“I know somewhere better we can go, but you can’t tell anyone about it.” I giggled at the face he made.
“Why?” He slowly questioned.
“Well the girls and I found it when we were still becoming friends, and we would go there and hang out. It let us just get away from our lives for a while, and it became our spot.” He nodded at this and we walked to The Spot in silence.
When we got there I showed him where to put the bike so that it wasn’t visible from the road, and took him to the clearing.
“This is amazing.” He looked around at the small clearing.
“I know.” I hugged him and sighed.
“Now about this thing with the whole egging and cars thing…” He trailed off.
“I am so sorry about that, I told them not to!” I buried my face in his chest.
“I really don’t mind, it seems as someone spared my car.” He chuckled.
“I’m still sorry.”
“So what-” He went to look down to talk to me and his lips poked my eye.
“Ouch.” I laughed. “But I think you missed.”
“Well, I guess I’ll have to try again.” He leaned back down and his lips grazed mine. “Better?” He smiled.
“Of course.” I smiled back at him and kissed him back.
He licked my lower lip and I opened my mouth so that we could kiss deeper. We slowly sank lower so that we were laying down. I playfully nipped at his lip and he laughed softy.
“I think I’m falling for you.” Nick pulled away before coming back in to kiss me again.
“You can’t fool me.” I pulled back away. “I know what that means.” I laughed. “You loooove me.”
“Well,” He kissed me quickly on my forehead. “Maybe a little.”
I laughed before we became quiet again from kissing.
When I got home I was almost floating, so I decided to call Skye.
“Hello Skye.” I said in a singsong voice.
“Um… hey Summer, you seem chipper today.” Skye answered suspiciously.
“Well, ya, you could say that…” I trailed off, thinking of today.
“Why might that be?” I could hear someone talking to Skye on the other line of the phone.
“Is Becky or Erica there?” I tapped my foot nervously.
“Ya, Erica is, what me to three way Becky?”
“Ya.” I waited until everyone was connected before I spoke. “So, I think that me and Nick are getting more serious.”
“You had to have us all on the phone for that?” Becky joked.
“Yes!” I laughed. “You guys are my friends, but I just wanted to tell you, plus, I wanted you to know that I am out with any more plans to ‘get’ the guys.”
“Well, we were going to wait for them to retaliate to get them again, but it seems like they are all chicken shits, so you probably won’t have to.” Skye explained.
“No, even if they do something, I’m not helping you. This whole thing is juvenile.” I sighed, they were being so unfair, trying to get me to choose between them and Nick.
“Well I don’t think you should be getting too close to Nick.”
“Ya.” Skye and Becky agreed.
“What! Why?” I exclaimed.
“Well, you know the kind of people he hangs out with.” Becky sighed. “It’s only a matter of time before he breaks you heart.”
“You guys are wrong, I’m not breaking up with Nick. He is not going to hurt me.” I secretly prayed that they would not make me choose.
“Fine, keep going out with him, but if you start ignoring us for him…” Skye trailed off.
“Don’t worry you guys! You are my best friends! I love you guys!” I secretly partied on the inside. While I did really like Nick, my friends were much more important to me. “Hey, I got to go, my mom needs me to run an errand for her.”
“Okay, bye.” I hung up the phone and sighed. This thing was becoming so complicated.
