"I see you're back," said Sola.
"You again? What is it this time?" Why do I always have these wacky dreams? Why can't I just have normal ones like normal people?
"Have you seen your power?"
"What? Are you gonna start that crap again? Are you trying to say that me sensing those watcha-ma-call-it ball things is supposed to be some kind of ability or something?"
"Yes, you can sense things and people before you actually see them. It helps protect yourself from the unexpected."
"Right. I'm so powerful." I said sarcastically.
"That is only a small percent of your true power. Your power will awaken with time."
"Right. Like I'm supposed to believe all this?"
"You will have to soon enough whether you want to or not," she said as everything slowly started to fade away.
"Uhh...Am I back?"
"You're awake. I was worried you died in your sleep," said the vampire.
"No kidding. And I had another weird dream."
"Are you at least feeling better now? You're not coughing up blood."
"Yeah, Much better."
"Care to take a walk."
"No, I don't mind."
"Good. Then, lets go." He grabbed my hand, pulled me up, and walked me around in his house.
"Where is this place?" I asked after he’d shown me three bedrooms.
"It's my hideout for now. I try to keep hidden from everyone."
"Oh.” I wanted to know more about him. I was curious. He was always so mysterious. And there was so much I wanted to know. Like his name for one. Was I just gonna have to keep calling him vampire? It was getting kind of old. “How long have you been a vampire?"
"Too long," he replied. We had just reached the bathroom by the kitchen.
"How old are you?"
"Old."
"You aren't going to tell me anything are you?" Why is it that he avoids all my questions when it comes to him? He is so mysterious. I just wish I knew what he was hiding.
"No."
"Then it's pointless asking you questions," I stated as we walked through the dining room and into the living area. I could see a small room beside the living room. It was either a library or a sitting room. I couldn’t tell.
"You're finally beginning to understand. I'm proud of you."
"There you go again with that smart-ass, rude talk."
"Your point?"
"That's my point exactly!"
Wow, he goes from sweet and nice to bitter, cold, and angry in a flash. He has got some serious anger issues. Maybe he’s slightly bipolar, I joked to myself. I wish he would let me in on his life. Always asking me questions, but I get yelled at for asking him anything. I wonder what happened to him.
I know vampires are supposedly bad, but I’ve never believed it. I mean sure, there are some bad ones, but there are bad humans too. We’re all the same. And I felt that something about this guy wasn’t all bad. There was some good in there somewhere. I knew it.
"You seem human, but you sensed that thing back there," he said, furrowing a brow in confusion.
"Yeah, I don't understand it too much."
"Yeah, I know…your dream. What happened in the last one?"
"She told me I had powers or something."
"She?"
"Sola. The lady in my dream…or soul as she calls it. I don’t know. It‘s really whacked up."
"I see. Hmm...Well, you make yourself at home now that I've given you a tour. I've got to leave. And when I get back…Well, you know." We’d finished the tour in the small library. His place wasn’t huge, but not small either. I liked it.
"Great. I'm being kidnapped."
"Yeah. You like it."
"I love it!" I said sarcastically.
After he left, I walked around his place trying to find something to do. I saw he’d turned one of his bedrooms into some kind of office. I wanted to snoop around. Maybe I could find something of interest; something telling me about him, but I decided it was best not to. The other bedrooms were just bedrooms.
I heard a loud "boom" like something fell so I went to the living room where I heard it and saw two men standing there. I shivered. They looked like heinous vampires to me.
The taller one on the left had short bronze-colored hair. He was wearing leather black jeans and a black button up shirt with two of the top buttons unbuttoned. The guy standing to his left was a few inches shorter. He had blonde hair down his neck. He wore regular jeans with a white button up shirt. I noticed that he also ad a lot of rings on.
“Hey there pretty. I’m Jules,” said the one on the left.
“And I’m Kross,” The other one said as he started walking closer to me.
“Yeah, and I’m going to kick your ass if you don’t get away from me!” I yelled at them. Whoever these freaks were, they weren’t getting near me.
“Oh, a feisty one.” Jules smirked. He was walking towards me now. I started slowly taking steps back.
“Yeah, we love them feisty,” Kross said.
“Who are you guys?” I asked while looking for anything I could possibly use as a weapon.
“Your worst nightmare!” He yelled.
As he did he rushed in front of me. So fast it was as if he had just appeared there. I didn’t even see him coming. He quickly grabbed my arm tugging me closer to him as he smelt my neck and bit into it. Then the other guy came on the other side of me and bit into the other side of my neck.
“Aaaah! Get off of me! Aaaaaaaaah!” I screamed in pain. “AAAAHH!” I screamed again, only this time it was louder than before. Like an abnormal kind of loud. Sort of like a loud screeching or nails on the chalkboard loud. It was so loud it hurt their ears and they let go of me to cover them.
“Aaaaah! That hurts!” They both yelled in unison.
“That’ll teach you to…Ugh…No, Not now…Not again…ugh…” I fell unconscious.
Why do I always pass out at the worst times?! It’s like I’m destined to be killed.
“So do you see now? Your power?” said Sola.
Of course. I pass out for this. I was doing just fine until she popped up in my world. Or soul. Great. What does she want now?
“Yeah, I get it. Can I go now?”
“You passed your first test. Keep going like this and I think you will fit nicely to save the world.”
I sighed. “I could care less. I just want to be normal.”
“You will soon except your powers. Your other half.” This was getting really old.
“You know. All this nonsense is really beginning to get on my nerves.”
“Yeah, and your beginning to get on mine,” said Jules.
“Ugh…I’m gonna kill you!” I yelled.
“Ha! Look who’s talking. We aren’t the ones tied up,” Kross said and laughed. I could tell he was the arrogant one.
“Great. This is what I get for living in two different worlds unwillingly. I can’t even control my life. So unfair,” I complained.
“Talking to yourself now are we?” Jules chuckled.
“Where did you take me? Where is this place?” I asked furiously.
“We had to take you away from the big guy’s place,” said Kross.
“So you don’t work with him?”
“Of course not. We’re trying to kill him.”
“Then why kidnap me? I have nothing to do with this.”
“We need your help,” Jules said. He looked like he meant it. It made me burst out laughing, but I didn’t.
“Yes. You are the chosen one. The all powerful. We need you,” said Kross.
“Me? All powerful chosen one? Don’t make me laugh.” Not only were my dreams talking nonsense, reality was too. Maybe I’m daydreaming.
“We know who you are, Illyria. You have every ability ever heard of. You are the goddess of this world. We are your servants. It is time you take your throne back,” said Jules seriously.
At least he looked serious. But there is no way I can believe that. What is up with everyone telling me all this weird stuff about be? They must have the wrong person. I know myself better than anyone does and I’m not this person they keep saying I am.
“Who exactly are you guys, and what are you trying to pull? My name isn’t Illyria. It’s Nel.”
“Come on, Illyria. Don’t pretend you don’t know,” said Kross. He looked disappointed.
“What? Do I have to say it again? My name is Nel!” I said annoyed.
“Kross, I don’t think she remembers,” said Jules. He also looked disappointed. What were they getting upset about?
“Remember what? This is all starting to feel like one big horrible nightmare.”
“Not only for you. For us too,” Kross said glumly.
“Yeah, well why don’t you untie me if I‘m so special?”
“Excuse me?” said Jules surprised.
“Untie me!” Do I need to spell it out for him?
“We can’t do that. Not now,” said Kross.
“You might want to rethink that,” said a deep, familiar voice.
“Huh?” Jules said dumbfounded as he turns to see who it was. “It’s you!”
“Yeah, the last time I checked, it is me,” said Vamp.
I sighed. Yes, thank you. Somehow I knew he would come. And just when I thought all hope was lost. Okay, I wasn’t really hopeless, but it does surprise me that he came for me. That and he knew where to find me. I don’t quite understand the abilities of a vampire. They can do more than I know.
“Vamp! You’re here! They kidnapped me!” I yelled relieved.
“Well, it doesn’t take a genius to figure that out,” he said. “I thought you came here and tied yourself up.” He smirked.
“You’re not any different, I see.”
“You expect too much.”
“Cut the crap. You aren’t taking her,” Kross butts into our squabbling and repartee.
“Oh really,” Vamp said impudently and smirked. He was being arrogant as always.
The way he said it was so irresistible. His voice was like wind chimes, or like running water. It was beautiful and mesmerizing. He said it like he was in control and unstoppable. He said it with such arrogance and narcissism it was breathtaking. Wait…Why am I even thinking about him like this? He’s too egotistical to ever notice me in that way.
“Look, we just had to ask her a few questions,” Jules said calmly, though he looked a bit agitated, or maybe something else. It sort of looked like there was fear settling in his eyes. Was Jules afraid of him?
“As I do,” Vamp answers. “Now, you can either hand her over to me nicely or I’ll do it myself.”
“We can’t do that,” Kross spoke now.
He didn’t look the least bit afraid of him as Jules had. He had more regret and anger, or a type of strong pain building up inside and fuming out his eyes. It looked as if Kross was holding back a rage that was soon to break and let loose a beast. Has Vamp done something to Kross?
“Kross! This isn’t the time! We can’t beat him. I know you hate him, but maybe another time. Not now,” Jules yelled.
Hate. Kross does hold a great deal of hate for Vamp. Jules obediently started untying me. Kross glanced at Jules as he untied me and clenched his hands in two tight fists. Why was he so angry and Jules so calm? As soon as Jules got the ropes loose, I pulled my arms free. He literally threw me at Vamp. Vamp smirked at his compliance as he caught me then teleported us back to his place.
I’m pretty sure what Vamp did was teleport. We were back at his place in a second literally. Most vampires are so fast that it makes it seem like they teleport or materialize wherever, but it still takes a while to get to places. It should have at least taken a minute to get here, but with Vamp…That’s a totally different story. It really does seem like he teleports. Maybe the older you are the more your powers grow…Or something like that anyways. Something I would know absolutely nothing about.
