Sovira stared at Ahx from across the dining table. He had come up with his own plan for the fight. That didn’t mean she would follow it. She already had a plan herself. This was just plan B as far as she was concerned.
She couldn’t believe the fight was in just one day. She and Syth didn’t have the time to prepare. If Syth gave in to his power she could only hope that she would be enough this time. Enough to stop him again. If he turned and she wasn’t capable of stopping him, worse things might happen. She didn’t have a plan C.
“The big fight is tomorrow,” Ahx started out as if there was a need to remind them. “I want us to be prepared for anything that could happen. Anything they might have planned. We need to be extra cautious considering we’re bringing a human there.” Everyone nodded. “Also,” he said and looked at Sovira, concern creeping into the muscles of his face, “There’s a chance we might have to break the truce.”
“Only a small chance,” She blurted out. “If Syth can control his power then-”
“He can’t,” Ahx interrupted. “We have tried everything for several years. Its only gotten worse.”
“He’s right,” Syth agreed.
Did he really agree with him? Did he not have faith in her plan?
“If they try anything, Sovira. If they get close to you and one of us is not around-”
“I know,” she said holding the amulet. “I’ll go somewhere safe.”
“And I want you to do the same if Syth loses. The moment it happens I want you to leave. We’ll come for you as soon as we can.”
“Kay.”
She looked at Syth. Please, I begged him desperately. Just try it. Give in.
Ahx glared at her disapprovingly.
“And Syth, no matter what happens under any circumstances, do not give in. Don’t even consider it. If you do there is no hope for any of us.”
Syth nodded his head. What was going through his mind? Was it Ahx’s plan or hers? What she would give to hear his thoughts right now. She wanted him to give in, but Ahx was against it.
“Are you with me, Sovira?”
“Yes, I know the plan.”
“All this seriousness is scaring me,” Sariin said.
“What of us?” Hermione asked.
“If Syth loses we’ll have to fight them. If he wins and they break the deal then again, we’ll have to fight,” Ahx said.
Fight? Sovira thought.
“What if they’re too much?” she asked.
“If no one comes for you, then you will know.”
She stared at him bewildered. How could he say that?
“If?” Syth asked with a raised tone. “There is no if. Someone will be there for you, Sovira.” He looked at her, then to Ahx as he glared at him. He was with Ahx’s plan just as much as she was.
“We don’t know that.”
“If it comes down to it, I will give in.”
“You mustn’t.”
“If we’re all going to die anyway, why does it even matter?”
“Because if we all die, you might be the only hope left for her survival. You must make sure no one goes to the human world to look for her. You won’t be able to do that if you’re not in control.”
“You don’t care about Sovira’s survival. This is all about your redemption. You don’t care about any of our lives.”
Ahx glared deeply into Syth’s eyes.
Please, you two, don’t argue over this. Don’t argue over me. I didn’t come here to break your family up. I’m here to end this ridiculous game. Are you guys with me or what?”
Ahx nodded. “I apologize.”
“Sorry,” Syth said.
“Lets stick to the plan then,” Ahx said changing the subject. “Alright?”
“Okay,” everyone said in unison.
Everybody got up from the table and left the dining room leaving only Syth and Sovira sitting there. Sovira couldn’t believe the fight was in less than a day. She was afraid things wouldn’t go as planned, but she had to have faith in Syth and herself. They were the only hope.
“Syth,” she said quietly. “If anything happens to either of us…I want you to know that I love you.”
“I love you too, Sovira.”
“Sovira!” Sariin called. “We’re waiting by the front door when you’re ready!”
“I’ll be down in just a minute! Sovira hollered back as she finished drying herself off.
She wrapped a towel around her as she walked over to her closet. What she wore wasn’t really important. They were attending a fight, not a ball. She threw on a pair pf jeans and a spaghetti strap. It was in their warm season, but just in case she put on a light jacket over that. The sleeves were elbow-length.
She walked to her door and stood for a minute while trying to clear her head. She took a deep breath as she hesitated down the corridor and down the staircase. When she made it to the front door, she had everyone’s eyes on her. They were all staring at her like they thought she would hyperventilate again and faint. Their gazes only made her more queasy about the fight. She tried to hide her fear as she looked at each and everyone of them.
Ahx looked his normal self with that serious expression plastered in the lines of his face. Syth looked like he just got out of bed. His hair was a complete mess.. Other than that, he showed no signs of worry. His face was flawless. Either he had an unfaltering plan or he was very good at hiding it. Hermione looked more worried than the others, but also slightly eager. Sariin on the other hand was dressed extraordinarily. She had on a brilliant crimson red dress. It was so short it barely reached over her thighs. How was she comfortable in it? She also wore light tan tights and leather black shoes with shiny jewels illuminating them. She didn’t look the least bit worried.
“Is everyone ready?” Ahx broke the silence. Everyone nodded. “Stick to the plan,” he said strictly as he eyed Sovira.
“Yes, Sir!” Sariin piped in and smiled.
She was acting as if his fight was going to be a blast. Maybe she was just going for the party. She was dressed like it at least. Everyone was still staring at Sovira. Did I underdress? Should I have dressed for the party too? She thought sarcastically. She noticed Syth smile.
“Are you going to be okay?” Ahx asked worriedly.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine,” she answered,
As good as I can be anyway, she thought.
Ahx turned toward the door and lead the way out. It was time. Everyone followed calmly as she hesitated. Se took a deep breath and walked out of the house. Syth followed beside her.
“Relax. It’ll be okay,” he said soothingly. “I won’t let anything bad happen to you.”
“I know. I believe in you.”
