The Power of Two

"Jared!" April sighed in relief. She had been in labor for two hours and was exhausted. "Hello, April. I'm doctor Brown. How are you feeling?" She grabbed the charts at the end of April's bed and looked them over. "I'm feeling alright. I'm just tired. I want her out of me!"

She smiled, "So, you know it's a girl?" Dr. Brown asked. "Yeah, we do." Jared replied. "Well, let me go check on Sara. Talk to you in a few minutes." Dr. Brown left the room and left April and Jared alone.

"Are you serious! Jared's old girlfriend is our new doctor! Man, I forgot Dr. Early was leaving! I dunno if I trust her enough." Sara said. She was sad she wasn't in the same room as April. She felt like she needed her now more than ever.

"Yeah," Michael said. "Well, we talked to her about her scholarship. She was in college for eight years and has worked in this hospital for two years. At least Jared and I know her, though." Michael smiled. Sara looked at April in the other room. She was talking to Jared, but she wasn't smiling. She must be scared. Sara knew that she was, and she was glad she had Michael there with her.

"I think Stephanie is coming in. Act natural!" Michael said. Sara rolled her eyes and looked at the pictures on the wall. It looked like most of them were pictures of Stephanie and her husband. Sara approved of him. He's kind of cute.

The door opened and a tall blonde woman walked in the room. "Hello, Sara. I'm Dr. Brown. How are you feeling?" Stephanie asked. Sara smiled. "I'm doing okay. How's April?" she asked. "She's doing okay. Her baby is healthy and we espect her to come out at about mid-night."

Michael held Sara's hand while Dr. Brown looked at their baby. Sara looked in April's room. Both April and Jared were looking at her. April smiled and Jared gave her a thumbs up.

"Well," Dr. Brown said, "your baby is healthy just like April's!" Sara looked at Dr. Brown. "It's a baby boy, right?" She asked. Dr Brown smiled. "Yes, it's a boy." she replied. Dr. Brown grabbed her stuff and walked out of the room.

The doctors allowed Sara and April to talk. They opened the window inbetween their rooms and moved their beds close to the window.

"How you doing?" Sara asked. She wanted to tell her about Jared and Dr. Brown, but she didn't. After all, Jared is her friend, and if April got angry, she didn't want him to get yelled at even more than he would when the baby is born.

"I'm fine, but a little shooken up." April replied. Michael had gone over with Jared. Sara flicked her pony-tail holder at him and it him him square in the back of the head. April started laughing. "Score!" Sara yelled. Michael turned around. "Man, if you two weren't in labor right now, you'd be in so much trouble!"

Sara smiled. She thought back to the day April and herself met Jared and Michael:

Sara and April were in the mall shopping. They were looking for an outfit for their job interview. There was a big commotion outside the store. ' I wonder what's going on.' April had said. Sara turned around and said, 'Let's go check it out.'

When they walked outside, there was a big crowd surrounding a couple fighting. 'Why do you have to be so protective?' One man said. The woman looked furious. 'Stephanie, I told you I was goinig to go out with the guys! Michael and I were going to go to Simon's house and watch the football game!' The woman yelled some more saying he didn't tell her shit, and taht he could have told her more than once. 'That's it, Jared, we're through!' The woman said. She walked off, leaving the man in the middle of the crowd. 'Alright, shows over. Everyone clear out.' Another guy said. Then he went over to the guy who was in the fight. He patted him on the back and they sat down on the bench.

'Lets go over and talk to them.' April said. They walked over, causiously, and stood in front of them. 'Hi, I'm April and this is Sara. We saw the fight and wanted to know if your okay.' The guys smiled. 'Yeah, I'm fine, thanks. I'm Jared, and this is Michael.' The guy known as Michael smiled again and said, 'Pleased to meet you.' He was looking Sara straight in the eyes and she blushed.

 They talked a little more, mainly about what had happened between Jared and that Stephanie girl. 'So, do you girls want to meet us for dinner later?' Michael asked. Sara smiled, 'Sure.' April shrugged her shoulders, 'Why not.' She replied.

*So, this is part one of chapter three. It's a little long for me to type sense I have to do the chores and sense I have a date tonight. My bf and I are going with my bff and her bf to see 'Fast and Furious' My friend has been wanting to see it for a while. And I know the title for this chapter is cheesy and korny, so just lay off!!!! :D Enjoy my story!*
