Situations Change
                                       Chapter Twelve
                                                                           Seven Months Later-September
   “Bethany Ann Dennison, will you please get down here?” I yelled up the stairs for the fifth time. When I didn’t hear her door open I sighed and started to walk up the stairs to her room. Ryan had moved in and was now at class. He had helped me transform my mothers old office into the nursery for the baby. We had painted it green, since I’d wanted the sex to be a surprise. As I got to her door I heard the reason she didn’t hear me. She was blasting the new All Time Low album. I opened the door only to find a horrifying sight. “What the hell?”
   “It’s not what it looks like,” Bethany called as she pulled the blankets up to cover her exposed chest. That wasn’t what was horrible. The other half naked person was Evan. My brother and sister were making out. There has to be a law about this somewhere. I squealed and walked away from the room. I couldn’t look at that anymore. I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket and pressed Jason’s speed dial number.
   He was here within a minute. He ran over and looked me up and down as if expecting me to be in labor. He gave me a puzzled look. “I cannot deal with this. You do it.”
   “What is it?” He asked just as Evan and Bethany walked down the stairs, fully clothed. Evan gave me a pleading look not to tell but I had to. It was a picture I would never get out of my head. Plus, I had no idea how to deal with this.
   “I found Bethany and Evan half naked in her room, kissing,” I told him before turning to Bethany and Evan. “Sorry guys, I just don’t know how to deal. My brother and my sister are getting it on and it’s just--too much.”
   I walked out of the room before either of them could say anything. I walked into the kitchen and took something out of the refrigerator to eat. I had been super hungry. The bigger my stomach got, the hungrier I got. I applied some mayonnaise to a piece of bread and stuck some turkey on it, just to get a snack.
   A couple bites into it I felt something wet all over my feet before feeling excruciating pain in my abdomen. I dropped the sandwich onto the counter and clutched my stomach.
   “Jason!” I called as loud as I could bear with all of my attention on the pain. It felt as if someone was stabbing me a million times with something that was electrocuting me. When I saw all three of them run in here I struggled to get the words out. “It’s time,” I croaked.
   They all knew what it meant since they went to doing their specific jobs. Evan ran outside to pull the car around from his driveway. Bethany went to grab my bag and Jason helped me out to the waiting vehicle. Once we were all inside Bethany started calling everyone. She called Ryan first and he ran out of his class to meet us at the hospital. Then she called Aimee and Lacey, who had finally accepted me. They hadn’t always liked me, but they accepted it. Last, she called Caitlin, who was three hours away at college. Evan pulled into the hospital emergency zone and Jason helped me out of the car and walked me inside where I was immediately put into a wheelchair and hauled off somewhere.
   My gynecologist checked how dilated I was and said I’d have to wait a few more hours. I was put into my own room where my family waited with me, the one’s who where there at least. About a half an hour later Ryan showed up all out of breath and kissed my forehead.
   “I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I was being selfish. I’m so sorry babe,” he babbled. I smiled weakly at him and shook my head.
   “Not your fault,” I said before going into another contraction. I screamed out in pain. Jason had one of my hands and Ryan had the other. I squeezed as hard as I could, hoping to maybe relieve a little pain. Nothing let up.
   Aimee and Lacey were the next one’s to show up. They stood at the back of the room and said nothing. It was very much appreciated.
   After a few hours of this torture the doctor said it was time for me to decide who was going to be there during the delivery.
   “I brought the video camera if you want to tape it,” Evan offered. I gave him a cold stare and he walked out of the room.
   “Ryan and Jason,” I panted. They nodded and the rest of them cleared out. They were told to put on these robe type things and I was pushed down to the delivery room.
   Once I was there and my legs were in the stirrups my doctor told me to push. At first I didn’t want to because it hurt so much, but then I just thought about my baby in there. I let myself push and a scream involuntarily escaped my lips. I was told to keep pushing. I pushed again until I felt I was going to black out.
   “It’s crowning,” my doctor called. Both Ryan and Jason gave my hand a little squeeze and I pushed one last time before my baby was out. I laid back and thought about the pain. It was almost unbearable. The nurse took my baby and cleaned it before being wrapped in a little pink blanket. “It’s a girl,” the doctor said before leaving the room. The nurse handed my daughter to Ryan and walked out to leave us alone. I smiled at the tiny stranger in Ryan’s arms. He smiled down at me and placed her in my arms. I felt the tears brimming at the edge of my eyes. She was so beautiful with Ryan’s eyes and my mothers nose. She had mine and my father’s lips.
   “What’s her name?” Jason asked. I smiled. Ryan and I had decided on a first name for her. It was only fitting. My mother’s name.
   “Lindsey Michelle Adams,” I sighed. They all smiled down at me and my beautiful Lindsey. I smiled down at her. How is it you can love someone that you just met so much? I did. Love her, I mean. I loved her more than anything. My beautiful Lindsey.
