When I left Kali’s hospital room I ran out of that place and kept running until I got to the nearest gas station. I couldn’t handle what just happened. It was all too much. I felt as if Kali getting hurt was all my fault. I turn up and suddenly she’s getting the shit beaten outta her. I walked into the store part of the gas station, and went straight to the pain reliever part. I saw a bottle of 300 mgs ibuprofen. 3 of those and I should be out like a light. But then it hit me, Kali, she mattered more. I ran back to the hospital. I tired to hurry but I fell a few times. As soon as I ran thru the doors police stopped me. I tried to reason with them but they shook their heads.

“SHE’S MY GIRLFRIEND! I HAVE THE RIGHT TO SEE HER!” I yelled. I didn’t care that people were staring. When it came to Kali I didn’t care what people thought. The cops just remained where they were. I stood there looking for a way around them. I went out to the lobby. I had to see Kali. That’s when it hit me, to go up to the counter and ask. God I was such a retard!

“May I help you?” the receptionist asked.

“May I have an update on Miss. Kali Everheart?” I asked in my most could-melt-butter voice. She smiled at me then asked

“How are your relations to Miss. Everheart? And your name please”

“I’m her boy…her very close friend, my name is Hyden McAndrew.” I said politely. She nodded and then said

“She is in the OR right now, she is getting surgery at the moment, but you can go to her room and wait if you would like, we put a cot in there for anyone staying.” She said winking.

“What about the police officers? They restricted me last time. I had come back from running because I had to clear my mind. I couldn’t believe that she, Kali, was really in the hospital.”

Well don’t worry dear. As long as they know that you are aloud to visit, then you don’t have to worry about it.”

The cops apologized and lead me to Kali’s room. After they left, I started to cry. I couldn’t believe that all this was happening. I heard someone come in, and I quickly stopped. I turned around and it was one of the nurses. She was an inch shorter then I was, had black hair and dark brown eyes. She had a small sad smile.

“Mr. McAndrew?”

“Yeah, yes that’s me”

“Um I have news on Kali.”

“Well what is it? Is she ok? Or is she-“ I couldn’t say dead. No Kali can’t be dead. I have seen her worse before.

The nurse smiled then said. “She is going to be just fine, with time that is. Right now she is not in the best condition, they had to do a lot of fixing, but I think she’s going to make it.” I felt so relieved that I rushed over and have the nurse a hug. She smiled and hugged me back. I started to cry again but with joy. I pulled out my Zune and it started to play Seventeen Ain’t So Sweet by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. I laughed out loud. Man wasn’t that the truth?  I laid down on the cot. I closed my eyes. And I fell into a not-all-that-disturbing sleep.

CRASH. I heard a noise that woke me up. I jerked up and when I did I fell out of the bed. I turned to see them re-filling Kali’s anti-biotic bag, and a food platter on the floor. Dammit it was only that. It scared me half shitless. I turned off my Zune.

“Is everything alright ladies?” I asked politely.

“HYDEN! Tell them to take these IV’s out of me! Please they scare me!” Kali said helplessly.

“We already told you Kali that those mainly are helping your heart beat, and you getting over excited makes your monitor go up and the other nurses are going to think that it’s Hyden’s fault.” Sighed the Nurse. BEEP. “Miss. Everheart, there’s a Renee McAndrew here to see you” Said a voice out of nowhere, that seemed to be a cop’s voice.

“RENEE! Tell them to send her in!” Kali said gleefully.

BEEP. “She says to send Renee in” A few minutes later a little girl with blonde hair comes in. As soon as she sees Kali, she runs towards her and gives her a really big hug.

“ I heard what happened at school…at my school I mean. All the other kids didn’t even know who you were. They thought the teachers meant that Andy Cruz went to jail for beating up California. But I knew better.” Renee rambled. Kali smiled. I could see now that her leg was wrapped up, along with the left side of her face. She was hooked up to an oxygen tank. She looked like she was drowning in the bandages and the hospital gown. Renee was up on Kali’s bed giggling and talking as if Kali was the same exact age. Both looked truly happy. I smiled and decided that I didn’t need to be there because I didn’t want to be the killer of their good time. I walked down to the kitchen and looked at the menu. There wasn’t anything really. It all seemed like it would be nasty anyways. I then saw smoothies on the list. I doubt that those would be nasty. I ordered a strawberry banana one. I got a pina-cloda one Renee. When I got back I stopped as I heard them talking. “Yeah I like Hyden he’s so just adorable. And strong.” Kali said.

“Who’s Steve?” Renee questioned.

“A guy who I thought was my best-friend but isn’t.” Kali replied.

“Are you a virgin?” Renee giggled.

“OMG Renee!” Kali gasped.

“Hyden isn’t. Him and some other pretty busty girl got it on last year”

“Brandy?”

“No some chick named Christian. She was a holy roller, I think.”  How in hell did Renee know about Christian and me? Christian was only there to ‘study’ or so she told me. Until she started getting frisky that is. I laughed at the thought.

“Well ok since I know he isn’t, neither am I. I just recently lost my virginity.” I figured as much, it was probably Steve who she lost it to. I know it was Steve who did it too, because he was bragging about getting her soon. I wanted to tell her but she would hate me. I decided to go back towards the Kitchen then be kind of loud so that way they didn’t think  I was a creep.
