The Unexpected

(Part 20)

Recap:

You felt someone arms go around your waist and lift you up, you smiled when you realized it was Derek. He put you down and kissed you.

“I told you, you could do it! You did it!” he said smiling and you couldn’t but to smile and kiss him softly on the lips.

The next day, you, Derek, Chris, and Valerie were already on a plane to your hometown ready to pay for the surgery for your parents. You felt so good knowing you used their help and support only to help them back. Derek was proud of you, as well was Trisha and Julian. Chris and Valerie said they knew you were going to win just like Derek had.

Once the plane landed, you all went to get your stuff and went to your house. Chris said he wanted to Valerie to meet his friends here and you said sure. You and Derek went to the hospital holding hands, you were so happy to be his girlfriend, and you would always give him pecks on the lips. You saw the doctor and he saw you had a smile on your face, you gave him a check for $20,000 and he hugged you telling you that its great you didn’t give up. He also said to take a seat if you wanted to because he was going to send papers on fax in order to start the surgery as soon as possible, if everything went well they might even leave in the morning is what he also said.

You and Derek ended up talking and kissing, until you felt sleepy which you fell asleep on his cheek only to wake up at 3 am. The doctor was just walking away and you felt like you missed something.

“What happened?” you asked Derek sleepily.

“Well….” He said with a serious face but then went into a smile. “Want to talk to your parents now?” he finished smiling at you as he hugged you hard.

Your parents were good, the operation went well!! You were so happy that you kissed Derek passionately and he kissed back.

“Wow! What was that for?” Derek said in amazement.

“Thanks.” You replied grinning.

“Oh yeah, your way of saying thanks and my way of saying you’re welcome.” He said as he kissed you.

You got up and he grabbed your hand following you into your parent’s room only to find them awake, talking to one another and then smiling when they saw you enter the room.

“Hi mom, dad. Are you guys okay?” you asked them as you gave them both a hug.

“Hello Mr. and Mrs. Evans.” Derek said to your parents smiling.

“Yes we’re fine dear, and hello Derek.” Your mom said smiling radiantly like the old days.

“Thank you for taking care of our angel, Derek. We appreciate it.” Your dad said as he smiled big.

“You’re welcome, sir.” Derek said

-Two Hours Later-

“-and then he came back to my city and I didn’t know who he was at first, and let me tell you I was pretty mad, but he fought for me. Literally. He was always there for me. And he came back for me. I love him for that and much more.” Your mom finished saying.

Her and your dad was talking about their life for an hour or so, and what they went through together.

“I have a question, Mr. Evans. Why did you go back to the city?”  Derek asked your dad with a curious stare.

You saw your dad smile and look at your mom with such loving and caring eyes.

“I promised her.” Your dad said still looking at your mom.

“It was unexpected that he kept his promise but he did and I’m glad he did. Everything in life is unexpected that’s why it's great, just like you and Derek, honey.” Your mom said to you as she stared at your father and gave him a peck.

Then you and Derek looked at each other and you saw that he was looking at you in the same way your father was looking at your mother. With loving and caring eyes and then you realized Derek was always there for you, always supporting you, and being there when you really needed someone. Then you realized that you loved Derek and he seemed to know it and you didn’t care because you’ve never felt this way about someone. You smiled and gave him a peck, and then he smiled as well.  Just like your mom said , Everything in life is unexpected and that’s why its great.

Meeting Derek was the unexpected.
