Chapter one: Time for a game

Cassie threw the basketball hoping to make it into the hoop, but it just bounced off the backboard. Justin who was sitting in her deck steps watching started to laugh. "Is that funny?" Cassie asked as she tossed the ball to Justin. "Actually it really is , its hilarious" Justin replied right after taking another sip of his water. Cassie walked over to the deck’s steps and sat down. She could smell Justin’s colon and its sweet aroma. "So you think you can do better than that?" Justin smiled before looking at her and replying, "Actually I know I can. Have you forgotten that I’m on the basketball team?" "Don’t use that as an excuse!" she said, as she quickly grabbed the ball out of his hands and ran while dribbling it all the way to the basket. She tossed the ball again this time making it into the hoop. She jumped with excitement.

Justin placed his water bottle on the step that he was sitting on, stood and ran over to where Cassie was standing and gripping the ball. He tired to grab the ball, but she quickly moved it. She ran to the other side of that basketball court, but he was right on her. She tried to run again, but her grabbed her shirt. "You are so cheating" she said as she pulled away and tossed the ball; luckily making it into the basket. "Well there’s no one around to see me cheat." Justin said as he ran over to the ball and picked it up. Cassie ran over to him and tried grabbing the ball, but Justin held it over her head. Being as though Justin was 6"0 and Cassie was 5"5 there was no way for her to get the ball without jumping. She jumped once, but he didn’t budge and she didn’t even tap the ball. She looked at his abs before tickling him, for it was his weakness and she knew that the ball would fall out of his hands.

Once the ball was out of Justin’s hands Cassie had time to dribble the ball once before throwing it towards the basket, but it bounced off the backboard. Cassie ran over to the ball and picked it up once again before running closer to the basket and performing and lay-up shot. She looked at Justin as the basketball fell to the cement. Justin just smiled at her while digging in his basketball short’s pocket. Justin looked at his cell phone’s caller Id before sticking one finger up signaling her to hold on. He turned around and flipped his phone open.

By doing, that Cassie knew that it could only be one individual his girlfriend, Delilah. Cassie hated her because little did Justin know that whenever he is not around Delilah’s rude to her. With the ball still in her hand, Cassie walked over to the steps and sat down. She looked at the sweat that was slowly dripping down Justin’s back on that fiery hot day. She smiled because no one around to see that she was damn there drooling. Cassie Couldn’t figure out why Justin was dating Delilah I mean they’re exact opposite. She thought that Justin deserved to be with someone who deserves him.

"You know where I am so why are you asking" Justin replied to Delilah

"Well I need I see you; I’m lonely" Delilah said while slowly twisting her hair and laying across her bed.

"You want or you need too."

"I miss you, Justin"

"How can you miss me I was just there an hour ago?"

"Justin, come on over my parents just left to go to some convention so we’ll have the house all to our selves."

"I’m hanging out with Cassie right now."

"Cassie Smassie, who cares you’ll see her tomorrow."

"I care"

"Please baby, I promise I’ll make it up too you."

"By doing what exactly."

"That’s a secret you’ll see when you get here."

"Okay, I’m on my way" Justin flipped his phone shut.

Cassie spun the basketball between her two index fingers while trying no to ease drop on Justin’s conversation. She picked up Justin’s water bottle and squeezed a reasonable amount into her mouth. While sitting on the steps Cassie examined the back yard that was newly renovated by her mother’s best friend Jackie’s husband; he did a pretty good job. Justin walked over to where Cassie was sitting and sat down. "Let me guess you have to go?" she asked. Justin smiled before replying "Yeah" "Why" "Liliah, said she needs to talk to me." "And the reason she couldn’t talk to you over the phone was what?" "I don’t know" "Honestly Justin" Cassie said while standing up "I don’t see why you’re with Delilah she so damn needy and we all know that the only reason she wants you over there is to have sex with her." Justin laughed "Not all the time" Justin replied as he stood.

Cassie looked at Justin in disbelief. "Whatever you say, you and I both know the truth." "Why don’t you like her?" "There are so many reasons and it would take all day to explain them to you." "She’s not that bad." "You’re right she’s on a whole other level she past bad years ago." "You don’t even know her, Cas" Cas was the one thing that Justin could call Cassie to make her calm down when she’s aggravated. "You’re right I don’t know her and since I don’t know her I guess that doesn’t give me the right to judge her. I‘m sorry, I won‘t say anything else, you can go. " Justin smiled before kissing Cassie on the cheek. She handed Justin his basketball before walking up the deck steps. "I’ll call you later, Cas" "And I’ll be waiting by the phone, as usual" " Huh" "Nothing" Cassie responded with artificial smile.

She really didn’t want Justin to go anywhere. He had only been there for an hour, but it felt more like ten minutes. Whenever Delilah would call him, he would go running. Cassie turned around slid the deck’s door open and walked inside. She walked over to the sofa that was in the den and sat down. She yearned for his touch and somehow she could smell the sweet aroma of his colon on her skin. She laid back and closed her eyes. If only she could tell Justin how she felt, but she wasn’t quite sure how he would react and if he would feel, the same way and she refused rejection that something she wouldn’t be able to handle, especially from him.

Cassie sat back up and stood when she realized that she had forgotten to close the Deck’s door. She walked over to the door slid it closed and locked it. Then she walked out of the den and into the living room where her sister Christine was sitting, typing on her laptop. She sat down beside her. "What are you doing?" She asked. "Nothing really I’m just finishing this report for Mr. Hatsworth’s class." "What type of report is it?" "Why, are you going to do it for me?" "No, I just want to know." "Well if you must know it’s a report on my favorite Author." "Which is who?" "It’s Jane Austen" "Wow, I didn’t even know that you read." "I read, I just do it somewhere no one would see me. I have a reputation to uphold" "Wow by being a dumb ass?" "No" "You know it pays to be beautiful and smart." "That may be true, but how is that working out for you?" Cassie looked at her before standing up and walking away "So did you tell him?" Christine asked as she took her eyes off of the screen for a brief moment.

Cassie walked over to the stairs case before yelling "No" She started walking up the stair as he sister responded. "You should tell him" Cassie replied "One day I will and hopefully he‘ll feel the same" Cassie said, as she reached the second floor, where her room was directly at the end of the hallway. Her bedroom door was already open, so she walked into her room and closed the door. She sat at the end of the bed and stared at her reflection in the mirror what was located on the other side of the room. She couldn’t figure out why guys weren’t into her because wasn’t unattractive and she was just a pretty as Delilah and the rest of the girls at school. She had a nice body, nice curbs that fits her and she had the smile of an angel; maybe it was the way that she dressed. She thought to herself.

She walked over to the mirror and grabbed the chair that her school clothes were on for school the next day and sat down staring at herself. She smiled and swept the strands of her hair that were covering her green eyes behind her ears. She opened up the drawer that was directly in front of her and pulled out her diary and a pen. She sat there thinking about what she was intending on writing down; not much had happened that day. She opened her diary to the next blank page and began to write.

Mood: Bored September 17, 2009

Dear: Dairy,

Today was like any other day. I opened my mouth and the words wouldn’t come out. It’s like everyday my feeling for Justin gets stronger and a bit hard to hide. Justin came over for a little while today, but left when Delilah called as he always does. Honestly, I don’t see what he sees in her: I mean she’s a complete bitch; she’s selfish, needy, greedy, manipulative, crazy, dramatic, shallow and every girl worst nightmare. I just hope that he doesn’t love her because she doesn‘t deserve it; I deserve it. I’ve been right the in front him for years and he still sees me as a friend.

Justin and I played ball today and I totally kicked ass. He had shirt off like he always does and his body was calling me…Cassie…Cassie…I just had to ignore it. How could he be so clueless or maybe its that he know, but he doesn’t feel the same way. Why couldn’t I just be his dream girl? What I don’t understand is Justin and I tell each other everything, so why is it so hard for me to tell him how I feel? Maybe it’s just because I’m afraid to be rejected; you know what… it’s not even that I’m afraid to get rejected, I can take rejection; it’s just that I’m afraid to get rejected by him. He’s the only guy that really matters. I mean if I was rejected by Justin our friendship would be really weird after that and I don’t want that to happen.

Well, diary I’m going to keep you posted, but for right now, I have to get ready for dinner so, later…

Cassie slammed her diary shut and placed the pen on top of it before running out of the room and down the hall to wash her hands. Her mother freaks out if anyone’s late for dinner especially if they‘re in the house. After washing, her hands Cassie made her way to the kitchen. She took the seat right next to her dad who was talking to her mother. Cassie looked at her sister who was sitting at the kitchen table finishing off her Report. "You better move that before mom says something." "Please she won’t." Just as those word exited Christine’s mouth her mother said "Christine, get that laptop off the table and come get your plate."

Cassie smiled at her sister who had placed her laptop on the chair beside her. "So, Cassie, are you ready for prom?" Her father asked. Cassie turned to him and responded with an honest answer "Prom isn’t a big deal to me, dad. I’m not too sure I’m going." "Why" He asked "Dad, I can’t dance, I have no money for a dress, I don’t have a date, I hate being around my classmate they‘re idiots and I just don’t want to go." "Why don’t you ask, Justin" "Dad, why would I ask my best friend to go to prom with me and I’m pretty sure he’s taking, Delilah." "You can go with them." "Then I’ll be the third wheel, I don’t think so." Her father smiled. "Cassie, come get your plate." Her mother said.

Cassie stood up, walked over to where her mother was, and grabbed her plate. She walked back over to the table and sat down. Her mother took her father his plate, then grabbed hers and walked over to the table and sat down. They prayed before they started eating. Cassie smiled at her mother who was eating. Her mother turned to her before saying, "Cassie, you don’t really need a man to go to prom." "Mom, can we not talk about this." "It’s true, I went to prom alone." "Great and how did that work out for you?" "Ask your father." She looked at her father who grabbed her mother’s hand.

"Well when your mother walked into the room on prom night, my heart stopped. Luckily, she wasn’t there with anyone because I think I would have stolen a dance. She was beautiful" "I bet" Cassie smiled at her mother before picking up my fork and beginning to eat. "You know honey, I can buy you a dress." "Mom, I’m not going, okay, can we drop this?" "Well I’ll buy you one just in case." "Do what you want it’s your money."

                  *Fifteen minutes later*

Cassie placed her plate into the sink and heading out of the kitchen and up stairs. She laid back on the bed just as he house phone rang. Oh my goodness" She sat back up and picked the phone up off the receiver.

"Hey"

"Hey, Hayden"

"What are you doing I’m totally bored right now?"

"I just finished eating, I’m stuffed.

"What did you eat?"

"Broccoli, steak and mashed potatoes"

"Sounds good"

"It was"

"So, I’m having a party tomorrow night and I really want you to come."

"Hayden, you know that I don’t do parties. I hate being around too many people. Thanks for the invite, but I don’t think so."

"Please."

"Hayden, I have to go I’ll see you tomorrow in school."

"Bye"

Cassie placed the phone back on the receiver and laid back down.

Gould13 I think its good. Very classic girl falls in love with best guy friend story though, maybe there will be a twist at the end, like super hott, super popular guy sweeps her off her feet after she tells Justin how she feels, then he realizes he's an idiot when she's getting screwed over by this other guy and goes to her rescue but she doesn't believe him...? Just an idea...I don't wanna change your story though but, I appreciate it when people give me ideas. :) I will keep reading!
