Untrusted Love [27]

Allie fell into a deep sleep. Nick, watching her the whole time, trying to not blink, not wanting to miss one look of her.

He woke her though and layed down on the couch then let her lay on top of him. Soon they both fell asleep.

The Next Morning

Nick slowly and quietly stood up. He went over to the desk and got his shirt. He walked back over to Allie and put it over her so she wouldn't get cold. He put his pants and white t-shirt on. He fixed his hair a little, then walked over to the door and pecked out.

It was still raining outside. He slipped out of the room and closed the door behind him. He walked up the row, to the front of the store. There were some people sleeping on the floor, and others sitting at the tables drinking coffee.

He turned down another aisle when he got to the front of the store. He walked down it, looking at the shelves. He picked up something for him and Allie, then walked back to the front of the store. He sat it on the counter and took his wallet out of his back pocket.

There was a TV on the wall and was on the news. It caught his attention when he heard that there was a car wreck. He looked up at it and listen for what had happened.

A voice on it was saying, "There has been an accident on Faital Road. A man was driving and crashed into a tree. The tree wasn't stable and fell ontop of the car, but luckily, the man survived. He was rushed to a near by hospitle and cared for."

Nick watched as pictures appeared on the screen from the car wreck. He looked at the car. He knows that car!

"No." He said while stepping back a little bit. "No."

"Are you alright Sir?" A voice came from behind the counter.

Nick put his hands on his head and backed away more.

"Sir?"

Nick looked at the person behind the counter. "Yea." He said then quickly rushed to back of the store. He stopped at the door and whiped his eyes. He had to leave. He had to go to the hospitle. He opened the door slowly. Allie was awake. She was sitting on the couch. She looked so tired.

"Hey you." She said.

"Hey, uhh.. Allie.." Nick started.

"Come here." Allie patted on the couch for him to sit beside her.

"We have to leave, Allie."

"Why?"

"I have to go to the hospitle."

"What happened? Are you okay?"

"No, yea. I'm fine. I just saw on the TV that my dad was in a car accident. I really have to go, Allie."

"You don't want me to come with you?"

"No."

Allie looked at him. "I want to come with you."

"Allie.. I have a feeling that your parents are going to be mad at you if you're gone any longer. I don't want to be the one that causes you to get in trouble. Please, let me walk you home."

"No, Nick I want to go with you."

"Allie. No!" Nick yelled.

There was a silance between the two of them for a few minutes.

"Allie, I'm sorry. Let me take you home.

She stood up and got dressed then gave Nick his shirt. He put it on, knowing that Allie wasn't happy with him.

He put the box of condoms in the bag and then they both left the room. Allie was walking ahead of him quickly to the front of the store. She pushed on the door and rushed out, crossing her arms and walking up the sidewalk.

Nick walked faster so he could be beside her. He saw that Allie was looking at the ground and crossing her arms.

"Allie, please don't be mad at me."

"I'm not made at you."

"I can tell you are."

"I want to go with you."

"I don't want to give your parents anymore reasons to hate me. I have to get you home." Allie didn't say anything to him. The rest of the way to her house was silent.

Soon, they were both standing on her door step.

Nick hugged her and kissed her forehead. "I love you."

"I don't want you to leave." Allie pouted her lip.

"I have to. Maybe we can do something tonight. Okay?"

"Okay."

"I love you." Nick said one more time before he left. Allie didn't say it back though. Nick started to go in for a kiss, but Allie backed away then went inside and closed the door.

Nick looked at the door for awhile, then at the ground. He rubbed the back of his neck then walked off her porch then rushed to the hospitle.

When he got there he rushed into in lobby and talked to the woman that was at the desk and told her about what he had heard about his dad. The lady told him where his dad was. As soon as he got the information, he darted off down the hall. He looked for the room number he was ordered to. Looking in every room just in case she gave him the wrong number. Suddenly, he stopped.

He looked in the room she told him to go to. His dad was laying in the bed. His eyes were closed. Nick's heart was raceing. He slowly walked into the room and shut the door behind him. He walked slowly to the other side of the bed and sat in the chair that was sitting next to it.

He scooted it closer to the bed. There were scratches and bruises all over him. Nick couldn't believe that this had happened to his dad.

Nick knew that he was probably driking when it had happened and the storm made it worse. He put his elbows on the bed and covered his mouth with one hand and put his other hand on his dads arm and waited.

What he was waiting for, he didn't know. He just watched him, hoping he would wake soon.

A few minutes had past and a nurse and doctor had came on.

Nick stood up slowly as they looked at him.

"Hi, I'm Nick. His son." He said while holding out his hand for the doctor to shake.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Jone." He said while shakeing his hand. "I'll be careing for your father."

Nick sat back down in the chair.

"It will be difficult to care this, but all we need is time. We've found that your father drinks, yes?

"Yea, he does."

"When the tree he wrecked into fell on his car, it landed on his arm, and only his arm." Dr. Jone continued. "He has a chiped bone on his right arm. It's a very simple healing process. We just need him to not move it as much during its healing. We need someone to care for him."

"Like, babysit him?" Nick asked.

"Well, yes. We'll keep him in the hospitle over night if you'd like that, but tomorrow, he can go home and get plenty of rest so his arm can heal."

Nick just nodded his head. Allie wasn't going to be too happy. Nick had to take care of his dad. How was he going to be with Allie at the same time.

"Do you have to do any sugery or put a cast on him?" He asked.

"Usually, we could do sugery, but it's not that bad to go to those terms. Just a cast and he shoud be as good as new. We have to wait until he's awake to put the cast on though or when he does wake, it won't fit right. I'll leave you two alone and I'll be back in a couple hours to see how he's doing.

"Okay. Thank you." Nick said.

The doctor left with the nurse. Nick sat back in the chair and looked at his dad.

Almost and hour had past. His dad still wasn't awake. Nick was literally falling asleep, waiting for him to wake.

Suddenly, his dad's leg moved. Nick looked  at his face. His eyes opened slowly.

Nick sat up straight in his chair, waiting for his dad to say something.

"What happened." Was all his dad could mummble out.

"You were in a car wreck." Nick answered him. It shoked him because that was the first time his dad had acutally "talked" to him. Nick hadn't seen him sober in a long time.

"Were you there?" He asked Nick.

"No, it was just you. You ran into a tree with the car and it fell ontop of you, but only got your arm."

His dad looked at his arm and moved it. He yelled out in pain.

"Don't move it! They're going to put a cast on it here in a little bit."

"I don't need a cast."

"Dad, the doctor says it'll heal better and faster if you don't move your arm. Having a cast will help you to not move it."

Right after Nick said that, the nurse came in with some things to put the cast on.

"Ready for your cast Sir." She asked.

"Fine." His dad said.

"Yea, he's ready." Nick aswered.

"This better not hurt."

"Dad, it's just a cast, it won't hurt."

The nurse started putting the cast on.

Allie sat up in her room. Her mom and dad were angry with her. This was the second time she had stayed out all night. Of course her parents brought up Nick and the fact that they thought it was his fault again, but Allie didn't say anything about Nick. She didn't want her parents to hate him.

The hours past as Nick stayed at the hospitle with his dad, just talking to him. He never wanted to leave. He had forgotten what it was like when his dad wasn't drinking. He liked it.

"What's that?" His dad pointed at his arm.

It was a bruise. His dad did it about a year ago. It never went away.

"I fell." Nick lied.

"Why'd you do that for?"

"I don't know." Nick laughed. "It happens sometimes I guess."

His dad turned back to the TV. Something about cowboys was on. Nick looked over at his dad and saw that his eyes were closing. Nick sat there until his dad drifted off to sleep.

Nick left the TV on, touched his dad's hand, said goodbye, then walked out of the room. He walked up the hall, through some doors, past the lobby, then out of the hospitle. Then he went to Allie's house. It was already dark outside.

He was walking fast. He wanted to see Allie. When he got to her house. He went to one side and climbed up the grape vine that grew up her house. He stopped at a window and knocked on it quietly.

Allie looked at her window. Her curtains were closed so she couldn't see if anyone was out there.

She heard the knock again, only this time a little louder. She rushed over to her door, shut it, and locked it.

She went back over to her window. She pecked through the curtains. It was Nick. She smile then opened her window and helped him in.

"Hey." He kissed her.

Allie could tell he was worn out.

"How was your dad?"

"He's.. good. He's better than ever. I mean, not his arm, but just.. him."

"That's good." She said while sitting  in her bed. Nick looked at her, knowing that she was still not happy that he had to leave her.

He walked over and sat beside her. So, your room still looks the same since the last time I was here."

"Is that bad?" She asked.

"No, I like your room."

Allie just laughed.

"Don't laugh at me." Nick smiled.

"How am I not supposed to laugh at you. You're just so funny."

"No, I'm not." He said while falling back on her bad with his hands over his eyes.

Allie giggled then got ontop of him.

"Oh, what are you doing to me?" He laughed, looking down at her.

"I love you." She said while kissing him.

"I love you too."

"Tell me how much you love me." She said while kissing his neck then going farther down his body.

"Tell you how much I love you?"

"Yea, why do you love me?" She looked up at him then kissed down farther.

He smiled. "I don't know. You're just.. so sweet and gorgeous. I love how you make everything seem.. not planned. Like spontainious. You knoww, wow!"

Allie interrupted him.

"Allie.." Nick whispered.

She was starting to unzip his pants. "You'd really do that.." He smiled while looking down at her.

She nodded her head.

They both stopped moving when they heard footsteps coming up the stairs. They both stood up fast. Nick zipped his pants up and rushed into her closet. Allie went over to her door, unlocked it then went over to her bed. She layed in it and put her headphones on and acted like she was listening to music.

Her mom opened her door and looked at her. Allie looked up at her mom.

"Me and your dad are going to bed. Don't stay up too late." Then she left. Nick waited until he didn't hear the footsteps anymore. He rolld out of the closet and layed on the floor. Allie laughed at him.

He stood up, smiling then moved closer to Allie. She sat on her knees on her bed. Nick kissed her. Allie started moving her hands down his chest, closer to his pants.

"Allie.." Nick stopped her. "I should go."

"No."

"I have to go back to the hospitle tomorrow."

Allie layed down on her bed and pushed her face into her pillow.

"Allie, no." He laughed and layed down beside her. "You can come if you want to."

She turned back over and looked at him. "Really?"

"Yea, if you want." He said, smiling.

"Okay." She smiled.

Nick got up and pulled Allie out of the bed and picked her up then kissed her.

"I love youuuu." He laughed.

"I love youuu tooooo." Allie laughed back.

"I'll see you tomorrow, okay."

"Okay." Allie said.

He put her down, kissed her once more, then left.

Allie closed her window and her curtains. She turned her light off then went to bed quickly, dreaming about what tomorrow might be like.
