"Where's Chase got to?" Jaynie's mother asked as Kyle and Ben reentered the room.

Kyle and Ben both looked at her with looks that said dont ask as they sat in the corner closest to Jaynies bed together. Jaynie's mothers gace fell slightly, she ahd hoped that maybe Chase would ahve been able to bring her back to them. She turned away from the room, unable to bear the site of her unconcious daughter lying completely helpless beneath the white crisp sheets, nor the mournful looks which stuck to the faces of those who watched Jaynie preying for movement., preying for signs of life.

"Excuse me," came a small whisper from the door to the room, everyone turned to see a nurse standing there, "I'm afraid visiting hours are over," she continued, "I'm going to have to ask you all to leave."

"Thank you," replied Jaynie's father standing and grabbing hold of his wife and youngest daughter.

Jaynies father knelt beside his daughters bed and took her hand in his, "Good night princess," he whispered kissing her soft hand, "We'll be back first thing in the morning."

"Bye bye Jaynie," said Tamara as her father pushed her closer to the bed, "I'll bring you pictures to decorate your room," Tamara leant down and kissed her big sister on the cheek then reached out for her fathers shaking hand and followed him from the room.

Jaynies mother could only look at her daughters bruised and stratched body and sobb. She stepped forward to say good bye to her daughter but was over come with despair and turned and fled the room. Kyle, Ben and RRick watched sadly as Jaynies mother fled. They looked between each other waiting for the next one to make their move.

Rick moved  first, slowly he stood and on shaking feet walked the short distance to Jaynie's bed side, "I'm so sorry," He whispered, "I'm sorry for this, I'm sorry for not being there, I'm sorry from not going to the funeral.I'm sorry for everything...."Rick whiped the tears form his eyes as he looked down at Jaynies seemingly lifeless body, "This is all my fault," he whispered.

"No," said Ben putting his hand gently on Ricks shoulder,"none of this was your fault. And im sure Jaynie doesnt believe it either."

Rick simply nodded he took one last look at Jaynies body then stood and pushed past Ben wanting to be free of the sight as soon as he could. Ben looked over at Kyle and sighed running his fingers through his hair as he did so. Ben then stepped away from the bed so kyle could speak to his sister in private.

"Hey squirt," said Kyle in a low voice as he knelt beside his sisters bed,"all right you've had your fun, got to spend the entire day in bed and hear everyone say nice stuff about you, time to get up," Kyle laughed slightly thinking how lame he must sound but carried on none the less, "So you better be up on you feet when i come back in the morning. No more lazying about ok?" Kyle squeezed Jaynies hand softly, "I'll be back first thing in the morning, be good till then."

Kyle stood slowly trying not to cry, trying not to think the worst. But things like what if this is the last time you see her alive or what if she's never back on her feet kept popping into his head. Kyle shook his head trying to shake away such thoughts, but he couldn't.

"I'm going to go try catch up to mum and dad," said Kyle avoiding Ben's eye,"I'll see you here tomorow at some point."

"Take care," Said Ben, he waited a moment watching Kyle leave the room before kneeling at Jaynie's side.

"Please wake up Jaynie," begged Ben grasping her hands, "Please. I dont think i could bare loosing you.m Jaynie you mean so much more to me then you've ever realised, more then you probably will ever realise.," Ben squeezed her hand, "Jaynie i know yo dont feel the same for me but please, you have to wake up..."

Ben stopped talking, he felt something squeezing his hand. He looked down and saw Jaynie's hand shaking slightly but surely squeezing his hand. Bens mouth fell open as he looked up to see Jaynie's eye lids flickering open....
