| CHAPTER 1  |

I lied down on the rock hard bed , atleast that is what it felt like. It wasnt the same comfartable bed that I had in my old house. I knew that I would have trouble sleeping considering the atmosphere in the room was uncomfartable ; I twitched and turn on my bed. I looked around and swallowed , the tears that I had kept inside were escaping from my eyes. The wall was pink , not to bad - mother had told Graham , that it was my favourite colour. She always nagged at me to be thankful he put so much energy to make me comfartable in my new house, new room. Still I didnt feel comfartable ;  there were no posters of my favourite bands , or the desk that my father carved and painted for me. I fill trapped in here , literally I am. I dont know anyone in this neigbourhood. I sighed of hopelessness , wishing I wasnt here. Wishing I was at home ; where my heart is. Where my memories are ; memories with my father. Graham is my mum's , well , boyfriend. I can tell by the grey black hair and the large circles under his eyes that he is probably in his  40's , something like 43  years old. He's slightly overweight , but I dont really know him , not like that. Its just that I get this weird vibe from him , there's just something  weird about him that I cant point my finger on. But I know its there.

'' Class , say hello to your new classmate , err ... '' The teacher smiled at me.

'' Natalie Cole '' I said shyly. I felt my cheeks blush.

'' Natalie Cole !'' She said louder '' I am your new teacher , Ms.Noles and these are your new classmates - ''

Soft laughs spread through the classroom. Soon everyone was talking and whispering to eachother , the classroom felt so cold - no one looked at me , welcomed me or asked me to sit next to them. Ms. Noles nodded approvinlgy at me , I slipped on a empty chair at the front of the classroom; I sat down  quickly , and didnt dare look around and examine my new classmates , my eyes were fixtated to the front.

'' Uuuh. Can I move back to my seat ? '' A girl said impatiently , she rolled her eyes and played with her pencil. I quickly looked at her ; a beach blonde haired girl with dark chocolate eyes with shiny lipgloss.

'' Johanna ! Be quiet . I sat you there because you've been distracting the whole - ''

'' Jo ! '' she screamed '' Call me Jo ''. She leaned back on her chair.

'' Your interuppting my class '' Ms.Noles repeated '' Stop it , or I shall send you to the principals office ''

'' Okay , okay !'' Johanna protested impatiently.

 A look of satisfaction spread on Ms.Noles face '' Good ''

She clapped her hands together , waiting for the class to quiten down . Ms.Noles peered at me '' It's great that you started this time of the year , because - '' she cleared her throat '' BECAUSE , we're going to start off with a project. Its going to be group work consisting of 2 people , maybe 3 if theres one left behind. And I will choose the groups ''

A moan and murmur spread around in the classroom. A red haired girl raised her hand '' But , thats not fair . I want to work with - ''

Ms.Noles was quick to interuppt '' No. I want to see how well you work with others ''

They sighed loudly , and some even started protesting .

'' Listen ! '' she shook her head and cooled down '' If you dont want to have a good grade , then leave the classroom. If you dont want to paricitipate , and fail this project then leave the classroom right now '' she said strictly, the murmur died off.

'' The subject is about about sicknesses and disorders. How society views people with the chosen disorder/sickness you have chosen. How it affecths their life and so on!  '' she cleared her throat  '' This should be finished by Friday next week , it's Tuesday today so you have got plenty of time. Im also expecting a 5 minute presentation in front of the class''

A guy raised his hand'' Martin. Put your hand down , I might answer your question right now ; The groups will be Linda and Susan ... Caroline and Jim ... Peter and Dan ... Felicia and Omar ... '' her voice trailed off.

'' Natalie '' she smiled at me  '' ... and Johanna. The groups cant be change.''

I glanced at Johanna , though she wasnt listening. She had turned around on her chair with her back towards the white board talking to another girl three rows away from her '' Yeah , I heard there's a party. I have already thought of an outfit ! '' Johanna said and giggled.

'' Johanna!'' Ms.Noles shouted.

'' Sorry ''

'' Your partners with Natalie ''

I could sense her dissapointment ; and I started missing home.My old friends , my real friends.

'' I hate this '' she muttered loudly under her breathe and rolled her eyes '' Why do we have to do , dumb stuff like this. And I dont even know my partner''

Mr.Noles gave her a daring look '' Johanna '' she snapped.

Johanna fluttered her beach blonde hair  and scowled.
