C H A P T E R  4

Amanda and Melly took a seat on the table where Evelina and Cindy were sitting and passed on the drinks they brought from the lunch counter.

Cindy eyed her drink  '' Cola light ? '' she asked.

'' Yup '' Amanda said , nodding .

'' Good '' Cindy purred as she  took a sip of her cola .

Melly sighed '' Are you still on that silly diet ? ''

'' Actually, she's on a new diet. The other one didn’t work out, it lasted a week '' Evelina said and laughed.

'' Listen , it's been two days so far on this new diet and its going great , and I’m going to stick with it ! '' Cindy shot back.

'' You cant be serious '' Amanda muttered  '' Your far from fat ''

'' Well the point of my diet is to prevent myself from becoming fat '' Cindy answered smartly.

'' Oooh check him out '' Melly said, raising her eyebrows.

'' He's pretty hot, who is he ? '' Amanda asked, trying to get a better glance at him.

'' Stop it '' Melly hissed and hit Amanda on the arm '' He'll notice we're checking him out ''

'' Oow '' Amanda complained rubbing her sore arm.

'' Ooh ... '' Melly said to herself, dreamily looking across the lunchroom.

A frown appeared on Cindy's face '' Who are we looking at? ''

'' That guy, the one with red hoodie and baggy jeans '' Amanda answered taking a bite from her hamburger.

''Where? '' Cindy asked.

'' There '' Melly said excitedly pointing across the lunchroom, the tone of her voice changed to disappointment '' Oh, you just missed him. He just disappeared in the crowd''

Cindy shrugged '' Oh well,  girls you know I only have eyes for one person ''

'' Yeah.. Yourself! '' Evelina joked.

Cindy rolled her eyes '' I meant George '' 

'' Boys aren't all that '' Evelina said avoiding Cindy's eyes.

'' I agree '' Melly said '' Lying , stupid , horny - ''

'' Hey !'' Cindy protested '' When you find the right one .. ''

'' Girls ... whether boys stink or not '' Amanda said looking at everyone ,

 '' We're going to stick together forever ''

'' No boy will ever get in between us ! '' Melly said loudly.

The girls nodded agreement

'' Chicks before Dicks '' Cindy said smiling.

The girls raised their glasses in the air chanting '' Chicks before Dicks '' and seconds later started laughing hysterically.

Everyone’s attention drifted to the four good looking girls sitting in the centre of the lunchroom laughing, at what seemed to be a very good joke.

Anna , a brunette sitting in the corner of the lunchroom with her two so-called friends Belle and Cassandra looked longily at Cindy's posse.

'' Uh, they think they're all that '' Belle muttered staring at there table.

'' There so stupid '' Cassandra said in agreement.

'' They're ok '' Anna said quietly.

Belle and Cassandra made eye contact and sniggered.

'' What’s ok with acting and looking like bimbos? '' Cassandra challenged.

'' Well, they're not really bimbos. They're actually pretty smart '' Anna squeaked, her face blushing.

'' And you know this .., how? '' Belle asked.

'' Well, I write for the school newspaper and Cindy is the editor ... And she helps me out '' Anna said avoiding Belle's and Cassandra's eye contact while she was chewing her cheese burger.

'' She's pretty cool '' she added , hoping to break the tension.

Anna wished to be just like Cindy and her posse - the centre of attention. She was tired of hanging with low-life’s like Cassandra and Belle, constantly complaining at the girl's who almost had everything; the looks, the boys and invites to the hippest parties. She is tired of being unseen and unheard and being put down by Belle and Cassandra. Anna was now more determined than ever to become part of Cindy's posse.

The sooner, the better.
