Do you believe what others tell you about that place and just let it be? Do you prove them wrong when they call you scared and say you don’t have what it takes? Who do you believe when they say they have been in there even though you know they speak nothing but lies? When every instinct you have right down to your core tells you that you should stay away because going into that place is suicide to say the slightest. The stories that are so horrific you can’t believe them but yet when there are missing people who were last seen going into that place how can you not believe?
But she did go in all by herself despite everything that was inside of her telling her otherwise, she decided to listen to people whose opinion of her was more important in her mind. She decided to go in the day thinking maybe it was safer but yet as she stood at the closed off gates of that two story building her nerves was not eased by the sunlight on her back. Because she knew inside of that building even with the windows open there was darkness that could not be undone by even the brightest light. Even the flashlight she carried as the worked up the nerve to walk through that gate would not be enough. And as she approached that door half way off its hinges she clenched her cross even though she felt Jesus himself could not help in this place. It was like stepping into another world as she worked her way past the door quietly as if making noise might disturb something or someone. It was as she feared when she stepped onto the creaking wooden floor boards that sounded like you stepped on someone who groaned in pain.
She did not know where to go in there and was beginning to really wonder what had brought her to this point. But as she looked back at that door her feet moved her forward towards the steps and that feeling in her stomach got even worse as she got that sense of someone being there came over her. She started to her things moving about in the basement at first like right below her as if reacting to her presence. With every breath she took she feared them hearing her as they moved closer below her and the whispers was present that told her she was in the wrong place for the wrong reasons. She turned around ready to fly out of that door and not look back she was as afraid as the cold air swept past her and at that door stood two children their backs to her. She took a quick breath being startled by this but children made her curious.
“Hello?” she muttered hoping against hope these children were alive and not those she had read about dieing a most unkindly death.
“Why are you here?” the little boy asked and she had a hard time thinking of a reason
“I don’t know but I know it was a mistake and I just want to go home now” Both of them started chuckling which made her very uneasy as the sound of the laughter was not one innocence. There was laughter behind her up the steps and she turned quickly to see nothing there but when she looked at the children there was one only. “Where did the other one go?” The little girl in front of her turned around slowly like it fast as she could move and her face or what was left this woman now saw. An indented skull filled dirt like she had been buried with half a face and no casket because someone didn’t want anyone knowing about this death. Someone tugged on her jacket and she turned to see the little boy with the same grave face as the girl causing this young woman to run anywhere away from these kids. Her blind running led her into a bedroom still on the first floor and when she slammed the door she took in a deep breath and began to cry a little in her fear. She regretted ever coming here and just wanted out but how to get out was a question as this room was absent of window and the only light was from the decay in the walls letting that little sunlight through. Reaching blindly she found a light switch that light the room poorly but good enough to put her at ease a little seeing that she was alone. She looked around the room that it was obvious belong to an adult with a large bed and it must have been a man she thought from the dusty dumbbells on the ground.
She approached a mirror that was black like it had been ravaged by fire and began to wipe it off. With one wipe she saw a man behind her with a scream and a turn she inside expected not to see anyone there like the movies. But this was no movie and this ghastly spirit in front of her had nothing to hide as he picked up one of the dumbbells and as he picked it up her heart speed up her feet moved against the wall because that dumbbell seemed to grow hair as he lifted it. Bone fragments could be seen and in her mind she saw the eerie picture of why those children had the missing portraits.
“Please don’t” she pleaded in tears as he walked towards her passing that little light and casting a shadow on her small figure.
“Don’t what?!” he yelled and she screamed beginning to tremble in fear.
“Don’t kill me please, I’m sorry I came here and I promise not to come here again.” She looked him in the face which was covered mostly by matted hair and a little grin.
“Oh you are mistaken…you don’t have a choice on your death no one does. We might have grabbed you off the street for sport and brought you into our world.”
“This house is your world and I’m sorry for entering it”
“You misunderstand just all the rest who think they are brave coming in here, this is only portal to the place where we come from.” She swallowed as she struggled to ask the question she feared and wiped the tears from her eyes.
“What is that?”
“You will see soon and my dear the fear you feel now will seem like heaven compared to what awaits you now that you have come here.” She fell down in tears feeling hopeless and then from the sides she heard a strange sound that she looked at. Dirt was coming out of the walls like it was water and beginning to fill up the room so she stood up this man still in front of her the same look as he had before. In fear and desperation she ran towards him arms out to move him but fell right through and onto the ground. She looked back and that dirt that began to follow her had arms coming out of it like they were waiting for her to join them. She opened the door and ran as fast as she could to the exit which no children guarded anymore but when she grabbed the handle an arm of dirt came out and grabbed hers. She pulled with all her might while screaming in disbelief that this was happening and a fear for her life she had never known. She was surrounded by this wave of dirt and arms so she ran upstairs as the entire first floor was filled and it rose to her and the locked doors at the top of the steps. She could see it rise like someone filling up a pool and those arms reaching out desperately for her. The doors that were locked that she now stood between opened up and just as she was about to bolt through one to find an exit that man came from one and the children from the other with a wall of dirt behind them.
“It’s time to join us now” the children said as she clenched her cross and was surrounded by death. She clenched it so hard she bleed and feel to her knees in tears rocking back and forth praying but it was no use.
“Do your friends think you are cool now?” the man said all that dirt collapsed onto her muffling her screams and filling her mouth till her death, but death is only the beginning.
