Fear II

Creative Created on 5-30-07 Views(102) Story Rating G

You wake up, shock and panic rushing through you, it was just a dream...only a dream. Your mind is recalling all you supposedly dreamed. The dark abandoned neighborhood. The shapes and noises from all corners of the darkness, and the shadowy figure that lunged at you. You close your eyes and after you collected your thoughts, you reach for a blanket, but its not there.
Your muscles ache horribly, and you lay limp, letting the comfort of your mattress absorb your soreness, but then it hits you, as if you where hit with a thrown brick. You are lying on a cold rock ground, pebbles and dirt can be felt with a wave of the hand. You sit up and try to look around, but you are in complete pitch blackness. Not even your hand, two inches from your face can be seen. Another rush of panic shoots through you, and you put your hand to your throbbing head, and pull it back when you feel wetness on your hand. Blood? You can’t tell because of the darkness. The air is sickly warm and you can hear something falling into water off in the distance. You take a deep breath and you can taste something foul in the air, and when you take a whiff your brain recoils, and your nose stings. Its nothing you have ever smelt before and your throat drops to your stomach as your imagination takes guesses at what the smell is coming from.
Once you gather your mind together, once again, you reach your hands slowly forward. When they hit nothing you move them to the ground, ready to start crawling, when your left hand brushes against something. You full your hands back in fright, but then cautiously feel the object with your fingertips. The surface is cracked, dry, and cold, but as you put pressure onto it you feel that it is soft. You are puzzled. What is this object? When you sweep your hand further across the object you feel hair, and your mind is going in circles.

It’s a leg.

A leg that belongs to a person.

A person who is dead.

Your mind shuts down and you fight faint. If you faint, whatever is holding you captive will surely devour you in your sleep. You feel sick, the stench in the air from the who knows how many corpses in the darkness weakens your mind even more.
You move cautiously, crawling through the dark, afraid to stand. Occasionally you brush against things, people, animals. And you land your hand on someone’s stomach. You feel a hard and rocky wound, lined with a shallow layer of ooze that managed to escape its host. The horrific feeling brings your stomach to your mouth, and you lean over, vomiting whatever is left in your stomach onto the rock floor and onto another persons arm. Your mind is trying to put you unconscious, your eyes fluttering open and shut, making you even more dizzy.
Sitting on your knee’s and holding your now empty stomach, you listen to the surroundings. There are no sounds besides your own breathing and the water in the distance, though you are staring to think that it really is not water. You suddenly have sense that you are being watched. Perhaps it is the paranoia setting in. Thinking the dead are watching you. You shake your head violently, while shaking the supernatural out of your head. Don’t start thinking of the living dead, your going to go insane. You start to think. Slowly, but now its just about moving forward. Making sure you reach escape.
Standing up slowly, making sure not to hit your head on anything, you no longer care about the bodies around you. You move forward, quickly, wishing you could sneak carefully, but your heart it thumping to hard for you to listen to instinct. You start running, ignoring the feeling of your feet stepping onto people, and drowning the sounds of crunching bones.
Soon you run head long into iron bars. The cage sends you backwards onto your backside and the dinging in your head echo’s through the area and you sit in disbelief. The cage you are in must be huge to have taken that long to reach the side.
You put your hands on the cold bars and a hopelessness sneaks into your mind. Your going to die. You are stuck in a cage full of dead bodies, and the monster that captured you is probably on its way at this moment to feast on its catch. Tears flow into your eyes as you realize your life is almost over. You rest your head against the bars wondering how you got here in the first place, and if your family and friends are worrying about you, and your dread and sorrow turns into anger. Why did you stay out that late? Why did you walk home alone? Why did you let your paranoia clench to you like that? As you find more and more reasons to get angry at yourself, you shake the bars in frustration, and scream in misery and agony. You bang your head one last time against the iron bars, and the one gripped by your right hand comes loose. You are in shock for the first few seconds of this enjoyment, and then you almost laugh in delight. Managing to squeeze yourself through the space you made, you move quickly forward, careful not to run into anymore walls. And you see a shadow, the shadow of a cave pillar onto the ground. At least you are pretty sure now that the place you where being held in is a cave.

Where there are shadows, there must be light.

When you turn the corner where the light coming from, you see it. A small archway, just ahead with a purple sky in view, the light stings your eyes, but nonetheless, its nearly dark.
You take a step, and dread fulls your heart. You can feel eyes glaring at you. Spearing you in the back. You turn your head slowly to look at those same red eyes that you saw the night before. You assume it was the night before. You hear yourself whimper in fear, and you break into a run. Stumbling over the ground as the dark purple sky becomes larger and larger. You cant hear anything from behind you, but your senses are not functioning properly in the first place.
You finally burst from the cave into the freezing night. You escape the cave, but you are still being chased by a murderous shadows, and now you are face to face with a think forest, and the sun is just about to set.
