Summer Adventures - Pt 3Sorry if it's long. When I'm on a writing spree, I kinda get long winded. Read/Rate/Comment; I'll return the favor. ;)

When I got home that night, I couldn't help but think about Andrew. He had beautiful brown, curly hair and baby blue eyes. His skin was tan, like he just came back from the beach. I had thought about him all day. His voice was stuck in my head. When I knew Ella would be home, I called and talked for one whole house just about Andrew. "Kayla, just text him. He seemed like he was interest in you," Ella laughed. "I know...so you got that vibe too?" I laughed and Ella said yes. "I guess I will," I smiled and told Ella bye, "Call me after!"
I got the number and programmed it into my phone. I put his number in a text and said, "Hey, it's Kayla. What's up?" I put my finger on the send button, but I couldn't press it. What if he didn't like me? What if he was just being nice? Before I knew it, I had pressed the button. My stomach dropped and my heart was racing. What if he doesn't respond? What if he deson't even remember me? BEEP! He texted back! My stomach did sumersaults. I couldn't believe he texted back. I looked at what he said, "Hey. Nothing here, just chillin', you?" I texted him and said nothing. I waited and waited thinking about what he might say. BEEP! I opened my phone quickly and read the text, "Oh...what are you doing tomorrow?" My stomach did more flips, except they we're way worse. I wrote back, "Nothing, why?" He texted within seconds, "Wanna come with me tomorrow? I have to go somewhere for my Uncle." I got real excited, "Yeah sure!"
I hurried and called Ella. "Ella! Ella!" What, Kayla?!" she cried, like she already knew what was going on.
"Andrew just asked me to go with him somewhere tomorrow!"
"That's great! Where?"
"Somewhere near by. He has to run an erron for his Uncle,"
"Oh! Well..tell me all about it tomorrow. I'm going to bed," she said as she yawned. "Okay, sure thing. Bye!" then i hung up. Just as I closed my phone, Andrew texted back. "Okay, great! I'll pick you up at 10am! See ya then," I texted him back okay and gave him directions to my house. I was so excited for tomorrow, that I fell asleep in my bed way too early and dreamed sweetly.
I woke up to the sound of Stephanie's voice in my ear. "Kayla! Wake up! There's a cute guy in the living room waiting for you!" I opened my eyes to see Stephanie, on top of me, with a hungry look in her eyes, except it wasn't for food. "Get off of me, Steph. Gosh!" I said and sat up, moving her aside so I could swing my feet out. "Can you just go in there and wait with him while I change?" Stephanie got off the bed. "Well, you better hurry before Brandon does. Cause he's talking to him right now."
Oh crap, I thought. My brother was very protectice. Even to my guy friends. When Luke and Jacob first came over, he interrogated them, like they committed a crime. Now, they both don't like him. I better get to him before he does or I'm toast! I put on my pants and grabbed a decent T-shirt. I put on my black and white hi-tops and pulled my hair into a neat bun.
When I walked down the hallway, I saw Brandon sitting on the love seat and Andrew sitting in the rocking chair, relaxed which was a shock. "Good Morning," Andrew smiled at me. "Good Morning..." I said quietly. "You ready to go?" he said, then stood. "Yeah, sure" I said, with confidence. Brandon gave me a look, which I read easily. "How about you go ahead and wait for me outside. I need to get my cellphone," I said. "Okay," and he bounded out the door. Once he was outside, Braond started talking. "So, when were you going to tell me about this...Andrew?" he said. "Brandon, I'm seventeen. Not fourteen, I don't need your permission to hang out with a guy. You're not Dad," I told him sternly. "Yeah, well when you go out here wiwth a guy you bearly know and you get raped, you'll know why I care so much," he said then went to his room and slammed the door. I got my cell phone and keys, then head outside.
When I got outside, I saw Andrew's car. It was a white Toyota Camery with four doors. I looked like an older car, but it was still in good shape. I walked over to the passenger side and got in. "Ready to go?" he said looking at me. "Yeah," then he backed out of the driveway.
We were five minutes into it, when Andrew said, "Your brother seems...protective of you." I looked out the window and rolled my eyes. "My dad moved out and divorced my mom three years ago and now my dad has nothing to do with us. So now, Brandon takes over the 'dad' role. It gets annoying after a while," I said, annoyed. "I guess that's why my sister hates me sometimes. I'm extremely protective of her," he said while looking at the road. "I bet she's glad I moved out," he said, laughing. I looked at him, "Nah, If my brother moved out, I'd miss him. She probably does too." Andrew looked at me and smiled. "Thanks, I needed that," he said. "No problem," I said, but I was smiling on the inside.
"So, how is your grandfather doing?" I said. "He's doing okay. My Uncle came to stay for a week, so he feels a little better,"
"Well, that's good...How are you doing?"
"I'm okay. I wasn't as close to her as I am to my Papa, but it still hurts, ya know?"
"Yeah..." the car got quiet.
It took an hour to get there. We talked on and off the whole way. We talked about family, school, friends and love. It was akward, but there as tons of laughing. I grew to notice that I loved his deep laugh. It could fill the room with smiles, especially me. We pulled up to an old house, no more then fifty years old. It had white siding, a tin roof and black shudders. It had a big front porch with rocking chairs and wind chimes. It also had a big shed with an old green tractor inside. "If you don't mine, where are we?" I said as we got out of the car. "It's my Uncle's house. He wanted me to get a few things from his house without my Papa knowing." I shook my head to let him know I understood.
On the inside, the house looked older, but it was a beautiful kind of old. As you walked in, to the right was a study, full of books. The room next to it was a bedroom, with a double bed and an antique nightstand and dresser to match. When you looked to the left, there was a big living room with a couch and old floor TV. "This place is amazing!" I said to Andrew as I looked around. "Well, it was my great grandmother's and my Uncle took it after she passed. He never married or had kids, so it's just right for him."
I walked around, finding the kitchen as Andrew got what he came to get. The kitchen was way bigger then mine. There were counters to the left and right and small windows around them. To the right was a door leading to the back porch. The backyard was beautiful. There were rose bushes and flowers. There was also a small red shed. "Neat place, huh?" Andrew said, walking up behind me. "Yeah, it's awesome."
"Wanna see the backyard?" I looked up at him, "SUre," and we walked outside.
"The bathroom is right there. This house was very old when they build it," he said pointing to the right of the porch, where there was a small bathroom. We walked down the steps and walked to the shed. "There's a well in there. Go look," Andrew said while pointing to it. I went inside and saw a stone well with no bucket. "Does it work?" I said curiously. "Not anymore. It dried up about ten years ago," he said when walking towards the woods of the backyard. "Wanna go to the river?"
"There's a river?"
"Yeah, let's go," and we walked towards the woods.
We walked deeper into the woods in silence. When we got to the river, the tress started spreading out more. The river was small enough to cross, but was flowing with beautiful, clean water. "Ya know, I'm glad you came today. I knew it'd be borin without someone." I looked from the river to Andrew. His baby blue eyes sparkled in front of the river. I could stare at them for days. "Yeah, I'm glad I came. I would have probably stayed home and fought with my brother," I said and laughed. "That sounds..fun," he said laughing along with me. "Let's cross the river," I said as I got closer, "Okay," he said. We sat on the ground and took our shoes and socks off and rolled our pants up. We got up and crossed the river.
We jumped from rock to rock up the river. We we got closer to a bridge, the rocks got further apart and slippery. "I think we should head back now.." I managed to slip out, until I slipped and fell flat on my back. The next thing I know, Andrew was carrying me to the bank. "Kayla? You okay? Kayla?!" he said as he layed me down on the grass. I tried to sit up, "Huh?" I said. I tried to focus on Andrew's face, but the light outside was too bright. THe back of my head throbbed, but not bad enough to make me cry. "Ugh, I have a headache.." I said opening my eyes, little by little. "Is that all that hurts? That was a nasty fall," Andrew said. "Sorry about that. I forgot to tell you I'm pretty clumsy." Andrew's eyes widened. "I can tell.." he said while helping me up.
As I stood up, I noticed I was soaking wet! My clothes sudeently felt see through. Andrew notcied my distress. He laughed, "I'll find you something when we get back to the hosue." We walked up through the woods again. It seemed long, but that was because I was uncomfortable. Wehn we got back to the house, Andrew went into the small room beside the study. He came back with nothing but a huge shirt and a blanket. "Here, change into this shirt and rap the blanket around you and I'll dry your clothes." I looked at the clothes like he was crazy. "Okay..get sick," he said as he started walking back to the bedroom. I walked to Andrew's side, grabbing his arm. "Okay, I'll take it," i said. I took the shirt and blanket to the backroom and changed. When I came out, Andrew laughed. "It's a good look for you," he said before he busted out laughing again. "Yeah," I said sarcastically and smiled.
When he finished laughing, he said, "You don't have to be home at a specific time, do you?" I looked at the clock and it read three o'clock. "Nah," I said, but wanted to yell "YAY!" in my head. I loved hanging out with him. He was fun to talk to and we laughed about everything. His smile was more amazing then anybody I knew. It could light up the sky.
"You hungry?" he asked. My stomach growled in response. "Well, I'll take that as a yes," he said and we both laughed. We got to the kitchen and rumaged around for stuff in the fridge. "I think all that's in here is sandwich stuff," he said. "That's fine. As long as it's editable," I said, soon after embarressed. "Well, you can't tell. Where do you put al that food?" he said, taking the sandwich meat out of the fridge. "I don't know," I said, honestly.
We made out sandwiches in silence. We would look at each other and go back to our food. Wehn our eyes would meet, I could see the sparks in his eyes. I often wondered if he liked me and if he did, What did he see? Was it my bland, straight, blonde hair? My dull blue eyes? It would sometimes come up in my mind over the last twenty-four hours.
"Kayla?" Andrew said, looking concerned. "Huh?" I said as I snapped out of my daydreaming. "You okay? You kinda just..stared into space. I thought something was wrong," he said as he washed his last bite of sandwith with milk. "No, I was..just thinking. That's all.." I said, nervously. Andrew cocked his head a little towards the left. "What were you thinking about?" he asked. I felt my cheeks go hot and I hesitated. "Umm..nothing. Just about..things," i said with a smile. He half smiled and put all the dishes in the sink. "Wanna help me wash these dishes?"
"Sure," I said as I put the last bit of sandwich in my mouth. "You rinse and dry and I'll wash," he said as he put water and soap in the sink. He washed a cup and handed it to me. When I rinshed and dried the cup, Andrew rubbed soap bubbles all in my face, "What the heck?" I said laughing. Then I grabbed bubbles and rubbed them in his face. "Two can play at that game," I said and we threw bubbles all over each other. When there were no more bubbles left, we were covered in them. I laughed, "You look like Santa,"
"HoHoHo," he said and we laughed, "I'll get some towels," and he walked out of the kitchen.
I finished up the dishes and we dried the bubbles off. "I think your clothes are dry," Andrew said as he handed them to me. "Change and we'll leave in a little," I went in the backroom and put them on. As I was changing, I saw a picture of a man dressed in a suit standing beside another man in a suit, with a little boy dressed in a suit on the nightstand beside the bed. The picture couldn't have been more then fifteen years old. When I looked closer and I realized that those same curls were of Andrews. I opened the door and Andrew was standing there. "Woah, you scared me," I said as I looked down at my shoes. "What took you so long?" I pointed to the picture on the nightstand. "Is that you? The little boy?" Andrew rolled his eyes and smiled, "Yeah."
I looked at the picture more, and realized he was a cute baby. His hair was bleach blonde and he had blue eyes. His legs and arms were still chubby and his clothes were cute as could be. Andrew went over to the picture frame and turned it face down. "I was an ugly kid. I don't want you looking at it," Andrew said, smiling. "You were not an ugly kid. You were so cute!" I said laughing. "You got that right. I was a cute kid," he asid. "You still are, except..You're not a kid anymore," I gave a teasing smile. Andrew smiled, "Well, Thank You," he said, stepping closer to me.
The next thing I know, he had his arms around me and kissed me like he was never going to see me again. His lips were soft on mine and not too harsh. I kissed back, letting him know I had been wanting this the whole time. He left go and didn't look me in the eyes. "Sorry.." he said quietly. I looked at him, confused. "Why are you sorry? I kissed you back-"
"No," he said, cutting me off. "I'm sorry for not kissing you longer," then he pulled me back in his strong arms and kissed me again.
