So Is It Fate (Intro)

Romance Created on 11-21-07 Views(264) Story Rating G

Today is just like any other day. I work as a web designer for an upscale advertising firm in Charlotte North Carolina. Day in and day out it is all I do. Build web pages for high end business owners that are nothing but stuck up and indecisive. Normally people, who’ve never had any worries in life, people who have inherited money or investments. You know the kind. The kind that have every one else do everything for them. The kind that would die if they had to work a full week, yeah that kind. I had been with the company for 4 years now, not really working my way up, but staying steady. I am twenty six years old, with dark brown hair that flows down to the middle of my back. I am an average height of 5’5 and curvy but slender. Average is probably the best word to describe me. I live alone in a two bedroom apartment downtown. I bought it a couple years back and got a good deal on it. It is a cute apartment fixed up in modern-deco style. Between the apartment and my obsessive shoe collection you would wonder how I hadn’t had to file bankruptcy yet. Well it is a Wednesday morning in late October, just like any other typical Wednesday. I am working to please everyone else and their holiday updates posted to their websites. I go to work at 5:00 since I couldn’t sleep any longer. I tend to do that often. It is easier to get work done when the office is empty and the phone lines are quiet. Time is passing by quickly and before I know it is lunch time. The quenching in my stomach is reminding of that. I seem to forget that breakfast is a necessary meal and I need to make time to include it into my schedule. So I am paying for my early lack of judgment that coffee is a descent breakfast. I decide to head down to the local sandwich shop to get a quick bite to eat before my typical Wednesday afternoon staff and clientele meeting. It is a meeting where the clientele pick who they want to do their site. Not like I need to take on any more work, but I am good at what I do and many businesses recommend me. I leave the office and walk a couple blocks to the sandwich shop. It is a windy, kind of cold day. Traffic is horrible, like usual, with rude drivers and pedestrians all over. I finally make it to the sandwich shop, walk in and sit at my usual spot. Most of the staff there knows me since I frequent the place. Sally, the waitress walks over and asks if I’d like my usual half turkey sandwich, no mayonnaise, a half salad and a glass of sweet tea. I nod my head in agreement as I open up the newspaper to see what is going on in the world outside of my office. I see the waitress returning with my sweet tea out of the corner of my eye. I look back at the paper for a second when I hear her stumble and am soaked from head to toe of wet sticky, cold, tea. I squeal at the coldness and then the thought of being soaked and having a meeting to attend in forty-five minutes. I look up to see if she was alright and there he was…..
