So Is It Faith (4)

I answered it not so business like, knowing that my boss is the only one who calls me before the office is opened. He knows me too well and knows that I am normally here early. I was shocked though, when I realized is was not Mr. McCoy. A strange voice came over the phone and asked how I was. I replied that I was fine and asked who was speaking. The person didn’t answer my question but instead continued like it was never asked. “So do you have enough time today for me to knock another glass of sweet tea on you,” The voice asked. Right then I knew it was Nathaniel Grant. I laughed and replied that if I got a nice outfit out of the deal I may be able to make time for it. We both began laughing then. You never told me your name, he said, which broke the laughter up. I told him my name was Cassandra Rose, but most people call me Cassy. Nice to meet you Cassy. I was wondering if we could get together some time. I told him that was no problem, he just name the place and time and I would bring my laptop with the website layout on it. He laughed his sexy little laugh and informed me that he was not talking about for the website. That he wanted us to go out to dinner tomorrow night if I was free.

My heart was pounding so hard. I wouldn’t be surprised if he could hear it over the phone. I agreed to the date and gave him my address for him to pick me up at 6:00. The conversation ended shortly after which is a good thing, because coworkers were starting to come in and the place was getting noisy. I started to become so frustrated from all the noise and my not being able to focus. A thousand thoughts were running through my head, not one of them dealing with work. It is a feeling I had never felt before. Ever since yesterday, Nathaniel seems to be on my mind and will not get off of it.

I mingled around, not doing a whole lot of anything. Mainly thinking about what I was going to wear later on. The day seemed to creep by real slow. I skipped lunch that way I could leave an hour earlier than usual. I wanted to look good and that normally takes time, especially with the amount of hair I have.

At a quarter to four, I finally walked into my apartment. Seemed odd being home so early, but I didn’t let is consume my thoughts, I had too much to do. I immediately jumped in the shower to wash and shave. I made it quicker than usual, because I wanted to look my best for tonight. I put rollers in my hair then started rummaging through my closet with a towel wrapped around my body. I pulled out and tried on what seemed like fifty outfits before I finally settled on a pair of black slack, a blue and black baby doll shirt and black sling backs. I looked in my full length mirror one last time and nodded in satisfaction. Back to the bathroom I rushed to apply my make up and work on my hair. Just as I was taking the last roller out, I heard a knock on the door. I fluffed up my hair and rushed to get my shoes on and grab my purse. I opened the door and there he was. Mine for the night. He smile and greeted me with a hug. He smelled so nice and his touch sent chills up my spine. I didn’t want to let go, but I new I had to. There was something different about him, a certain charm that seemed to draw you in.

So where are we going Nathaniel. Cassy please call me Nathan or Nate. So where are we going Nate, I repeated. “I have something planned for us. I don’t know you too well, but I hope you like it,” was his reply. My insides were melting. Wonder what he had planned.
