I rest of the day seemed to go by surprisingly quick. I got Nate’s folder out and started building his website. Before I realized it was 6:00 and I was the only one left in the building. I had gotten most of Nate’s website completed and couldn’t wait to show him. I picked up the phone and dialed his number. After three rings he answered with, hey sexy! I grinned from ear to ear. I told him about the website which he seemed excited about. I asked him how his afternoon had went and as he started to explain it, I heard one of the office doors open. A little uneasy I couldn’t concentrate on a word he was saying. I quietly got up and locked my office door. Nate must have heard the insecurity and distance in my voice, because the line went quiet. What’s wrong, he asked with a concerned tone. Taking a deep breath I explained that some weird things had been happening to me lately and how someone just entered the office building. I told him I would go further in detail later, but at the moment I felt a little uneasy. “I am coming to get you,” he exclaimed. I took him up on the offer and gave him my password to get through the security doors. He was about 15 minutes away and I planned to stay on the phone with him until he arrived. The line, however, went dead after a few minutes and I was left in silence. I hung the phone up and proceeded to pick it back up to call him back, but there was no dial tone. I was trembling all over as I scrambled through my purse looking for my cell phone. My phone never works in my office because the building is metal. I had hoped that this one time it would though. So, with my fingers crossed I punched in his number. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Just my freaking luck, I yelled out loud. Each minute that passed seemed like an eternity. I tried to calm myself down by telling myself I was overreacting. That it was just a co-worker who had left something and returned to get it. It didn’t work. Through many years of living alone, it takes a lot to make me nervous or scared. I heard another slam of a door and almost jumped out of my seat. I slid down in my chair and under my desk, pulling the chair underneath with me. With my arms wrapped around my knees I began to cry. I rested my head on my knees and held my knees tighter. I heard the rattle of my office door knob and my stomach turned. I couldn’t seem to catch my breath as the rattling became louder with banging following. I quit breathing as door flung open. My body became still. I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry. I didn’t though. Then I heard……
