The end of the day couldn't come fast enough, as Pete was excited about having found something to smoke, however little it was. He just wished he could find a job, so he could work on finding a regular supply. Plus, he was nervous about carrying the roach, but luckily, he only had one more class to go, then he would be able to enjoy his little treat. He was also having troubles getting her bright, smiling face out of his head, but he didn't really want the drama of dealing with a girlfriend right yet, so he decided it would be best to push his feelings aside, at least for the time being.
As soon as they pulled in the driveway, Pete ran into the house, and threw his backpack on the bed. He dumped the remaining packs form the carton of cigarettes, onto the bed, trying to retrieve the pack with the roach in it. It had been three weeks since the last time he smoked, and he was getting anxious. "I'll be back in a while, I'm gonna go find a job," Pete told Gwen, almost cheerfully. "Okay, is something wrong?" she asked suspiciously, as she watched him, digging through the junk drawer looking for a butane lighter. He regularly used a Zippo, so she thought this was very odd. "Are ya looking for something?" She asked, slowly becoming curious. "Nah, just need a lighter, til I can get some zippo fluid to refill my lighter," he lied, as he finally found one that worked.
Pete walked down the street, until he came to the end, where it made a T. He had never went left before, since he had to go right to get to the strip, so he decided to walk that way and see what new things he could take in. Finally, he came to a nice spot, kinda secluded, leading back into a grove of trees. He climbed back through the trees, and made himself a seat, hidden from view of the road up ahead. He then proceeded to smoke the joint, savoring every hit he took of his little green friend. There was still something missing, though, as he thought about his friends back home in Indiana. Suddenly, he heard people shouting from the road up ahead.
