"Stay in the car," the detective instructed, as he got out of his tan colored Crown Victoria. He had his hand on his gun, as he started walking towards them, never breaking his gaze, which Pete felt, burning into him like a hot fire poker. They had over a gram of crank in the car with them, along with the ounce of weed that Jeremy brought. Pete looked over at Jeremy, who seemed to be unusually cool. This helped relax Pete, but he was still anxious. The crank was still in his system, and he was trying to fight his urge to cut and run, but there was no way he could leave Jeremy there alone to take the heat. After what seemed like an eternity, the detective finally made his way over to Pete's side of the car, looking in the window at Pete, then Jeremy, before looking at he picture he had pulled out of his pocket. "Is Terry in there?" He asked, glancing toward the backseat. "No sir," Jeremy answered coolly, not an ounce of fear in his voice. The detective looked again, obviously not trusting Jeremy's answer. He then began to walk to the front door of Terry's house, where Terry and Bob were sitting in the living room, smoking a foil, before Jeremy and Pete went to leave. They could only watch in fear, as the detective proceeded to knock on the door, not knowing if they had finished, wishing there was some way to warn their friends inside.
After a couple of seconds, the cop disappeared into the house, only to emerge within minutes, pulling Terry out with him, hands cuffed behind his back. Terry was laughing, as if someone had just told him a joke, but Pete and Jeremy watched, terrified, until the detective put Terry in the backseat and drove off. They went inside and asked Bob what had happened. Bob then began to describe to the two what had happened. "I answered the door, and told the cop Terry wasn't here, but he was in the bathroom, and didn't know what was going on, so when he came out, the bastard pushed past me and put the cuffs on him," Bob went on, laughing, and talking so fast, they were starting to have trouble understanding him, so they decided to get the rest of the story later, and just go back home. They all did another line, then got in the car to drive back to Jeremy's house.
