No More Fences Part 22

Other Created on 4-23-08 Views(244) Story Rating G

The snow continued to fall, as Pete walked back up the road.  The crank was starting to wear off, and he just wanted to get home to his nice comfy bed, even though he knew any sleep he got would be short-lived, since everyone was cramped into the house.  Fred should be working, clearing parking lots in the bulldozer for the excavating company he worked for, which was good, since Pete was starting to get irritable.

When he finally reached the house, Pete was astonished to see that Fred was already home, and apparently in a bad mood, so Pete snuck upstairs, as not to provoke an argument.  He laid down in the bed, passing out almost immediately.  After about fifteen minutes, Pete woke to Fred pulling him out of the bed, causing him to fall to the floor.  "Get up, it's not time for bed," He growled at Pete, as he tried to get back to his feet, fighting the blanket, which had now become entangled in his legs, infuriating Pete even more.  "Go out and shovel the driveway, so I can get out to go to work in the morning,"  Fred ordered, as he headed back down the stairs.  Pete could've fought it, but it would've ended the same way it always did.  They would both be pissed off, but Pete would still be shoveling the driveway, since Fred was nearly three times his size, and Pete was never a violent person, except in his mind.  He had often though of things he would like to do to him, but when it came down to it, he could never bring himself to follow through, whether it was his love and respect for his mother's happiness, or his own maturity trying to escape, knowing that Fred was only doing these things for Pete's own good, trying to instill a strong work ethic that Pete didn't want to accept.   Either way, he was in no mood to shovel the driveway, especially after last night.  Pete laid back down, hoping Fred would leave him alone for at least half an hour more.  Ten more minutes went by, and Pete decided to drag himself out of bed to shovel the snow, before Fred got upset again.
