The rain began to subside, as the midwife finally made her way into the next town. She only had two blocks to go, but it was the longest two blocks the midwife had ever walked. Her feet were sore, her leather shoes were not made for walking in the rain, let alone running. Her heart was racing so fast, and her breaths were short and quick, as she struggled to breath. The night air had since become chilly, and the jacket she had worn, she shed to further comfort the baby. Her chest was beginning to hurt her, but she knew she couldn't stop, she had come this far, she had to give the baby a good home. At last, she could see the house, as she turned the corner of the next block. She started to run, ignoring the pain in her feet. "Just a little further," she thought to herself, as she felt her legs start to give out, a sharp pain tearing through her arm, as she fell onto the porch.
