I unlocked the door as my phone vibrated in my pocket. I pulled out my cell and checked my txt messages. I had six new messages. All from Kaley.

Aw hell I forgot you went to the movies, sorry I’ve been bothering you…but he really wants me to tell you some, not all, details. I’m surprised that all while he was gone you never asked, you must’ve forgotten, but even though he’s back he still doesn’t want to be the one to tell you. That’s what a faithful cousin is for!

I went into my contacts on my phone and called her putting my Bluetooth in my ear. I walked over into the kitchen as the call connected.

Kaley: It’s about time! I know you were at the movies but seriously you said it started at 12:55 was it really that long? Anyways Jason keeps bugging me so I’m giving the phone to him.

I sipped on some chocolate milkshake that I had made the day before I went outside and sat on the porch steps. Waiting for him to talk.

Jason: How was the movie? You went to go see Get Smart right?

Me: Yea, it was good. It was really funny. So what’s up? I keep getting bugged with this surprise stuff. Honestly I don’t want to know because I know that if someone tells me just a little bit of it, I’m going to want to know all.

Jason: December 20, 2009, you got a little more than a year.

Me: A little more than a year for what?

Jason: You’ll find out soon enough, here Kaley wants to talk to you more about it.

Kaley: Heya, Jason’s receptionist here to please anyone that he wants, his servant you could say.

I could here Jason talking in the background telling her to shut up and to only tell me about the movie surprise.

Kaley: Oh yea, I’m supposed to tell you that Jason will be going away yet again. He’s leaving sometime, he’s got an uhhh…oh yea that’s right, he has a regional track meet in New York.. Yea.

Me: Are you serious…you’ve got to be getting me. Damnit right when he comes back. Hey I gotta go Sara is here. Can I talk to you about it tonight?

Kaley: Yea sure, tell Sara I said hi.

We hung up. Sara, Jason, Kaley, and me all talked online with other friends. Sara and I were the only ones in the group to live here in southern Texas, the rest lived up in northern Texas.  I opened the door as she screamed. “What?” I asked closing the door behind her as she pounced onto the leather couch. “Did Kaley tell you yet?”  I sipped some more of the shake, “What about the 3 surprises, a little, not much. Everyone obviously knows about it. I hate being the vicitim of the surprises, but usually if everyone knows it’s something good, am I right.”  I sat on the couch beside her as she stole my shake.  “Oh it’s good alright, they’re all good. I’ll tell you one thing though…he is paying more than a thousand for your ring.”  My mouth hung wide open…”ring?” I though to myself.
