Deal With a Vampire 25: The Final ChapterSo, It's FINALLY over. I'm glad that I don't have to worry about finishing this anymore. :D Remember to watch out for my other story "Watching Over You"
|
After that day, there was no sign of Adrian, as if he knew that the others knew he was back. The track team went on and won all the events that they entered in at state. The whole got the day off to go and watch the team compete and cheer them on. When the team came back from state, the whole town was decorated with banners. They were basically hometown heroes to everyone.
Less than a week after state, the seniors were getting ready for graduation. Carlee was the Valedictorian and Caiden ended up being the Salutorian, while Dan had managed to make it into the top ten. Carlee and Caiden were both busy writing their speeches, while Dan was planning out his and Caiden’s graduation party.
Graduation day went off without a hitch, and two weeks later they were standing around their yard, talking with friends from school while there were various people playing games of badminton or volleyball. There were tents set up in the backyard where most of the adults could be found conversing with each other.
Joel was there, and every time that Damien would get close to him, he would get all jumpy. “It’s just nerves that he’s a you-know-what,” he would say to Dan. Sr.
It was about ten o’clock and most of the adults had started leaving as more of Danny and Caiden’s friends were just arriving. There was one guest in particular that Caiden noticed arrive that he had never seen before.
“Hey Dan, who is that real quiet guy over there?” he asked gesturing to where their guest was standing. He was gazing intently at Caiden, which creeped him out.
“I don’t know. Why don’t you go talk to him and find out?” Dan asked pushing Caiden towards the guy.
With a glare directed at Dan, Caiden set off towards the stranger. As he approached the guy, he could have sworn that he saw him smirk. “Hi, I’m Caiden. How can I help you?” he asked through gritted teeth, trying to be polite.
“I came to see you and your brother, since it is your graduation party. I’m a friend of your mother’s. Perhaps you could tell me where she is?” he said looking at Caiden with his silver eyes, staring him down.
“She should be in the back yard with the other adults. You can’t miss her,” Caiden said motioning around the house.
“Thank you Caiden,” the man said with a smirk as he turned around and headed for the back yard.
“That guy just doesn’t seem right. I better keep an eye on him,” he thought to himself as he also went around to the back yard. Walking back, he glanced under the tents to figure out where the man had gone.
His dad was talking to Damien and Joel. Joel was nervous, looking like he was guilty of something. He noticed the man walking towards his mom, and when Joel saw the man, Caiden noticed that his face went deathly pale. “What is Joel so nervous about?” he asked himself as he went back to watching the man approach his mother.
Colleen watched the man approach her, her face contorted as she tried to figure out exactly who he was. She had a feeling that she had met him before, but she couldn’t exactly place his name. As he got closer, his silver eyes morphed into piercing blue eyes that held a familiar twinkle in them. “It’s you,” she said as she started to back away from him.
“I am pleased to see that you haven’t forgotten me,” he said closing in on her.
“You know you can’t do anything with Dan, Joel and your brother here, so why don’t you just leave,” she hissed at him.
“Not until I get what I came for,” he said grabbing onto her wrist. “Besides, I don’t have to worry about Joel. It’s with thanks to him that I’m alive today,” he said as he let out a laugh and began to pull her along.
“I knew it! But why would Joel betray his best friend?” she asked to herself.
“I don’t know. Let’s go ask him, shall we?” he said with a laugh as he dragged her to where the three were still standing and talking.
Joel saw them approaching and tried backing away, but the man called out, “Joel, my man. Colleen here has a question for you.”
Damien and Dan turned to see who had said that. Dan gave the man a quizzical look as to why he was holding his wife’s hand, while Damien narrowed his eyes at him. Soon after a closer inspection, he glared at him.
Caiden was watching the scene with interest. When he saw the worried glance on his mother’s face and the glare from Damien, he decided to go check it out. “Excuse me sir, but could you please let go of my mother’s wrist?” he said as he came closer.
“Well, you see, I can’t exactly do that,” the man said turning to look at him. “You see, your mother and I have this… connection, you see? So I can’t really let go of her. I’ve waited too long to let this opportunity pass by,” he growled.
“Adrian, let Colleen go,” Damien growled.
Dan’s face contorted into one of anger when he heard the name. The man shook his head and laughed. “My disguises never could fool you brother. Well, done,” he said as in the blink of an eye he was back in his old form. There stood Adrian, smiling like a fool.
“Let go of my wife. How the hell are you alive?” Dan growled at Adrian.
“I would like to thank your dear friend Joel, for my being alive. If he didn’t take my ashes back to Transylvania and bury them, than I would still be just a pile of ashes.”
All eyes turned towards Joel, whose face had turned a bright red.
“Joel, you’re my best friend. How could you help him out?” Dan asked, half in shock and half in rage.
You want to know why I did it?” Joel said quietly. “I did it because I’m sick and tired of just standing by while you get everything that you want. You get the girl, the house, and the family. I get nothing, just like always. Adrian made a deal with me that if I helped him with his plan that I would live on forever, just like him. So, I decided to help him. I’m sorry Dan, but you have to go,” he said as he took a gun from out of his pocket.
In a flash, Caiden was in front of Joel with the gun in his hand, pointing it back at Joel, who looked like hell. “Never threaten my father again. What kind of friend are you?” he took the gun and snapped it in two and then glared at Adrian. “So I’m guessing that you are the one I’ve heard about, my biological father?”
“What a smart boy. I’m proud that your Uncle Damien was actually useful for once and taught you the in’s and outs of being a vampire. What a fine job he’s done,” Adrian said looking Caiden over.
From behind Caiden, he heard someone try to muffle their surprise. He turned around to see Carlee staring at him, with a look mixed with fear, shock and astonishment. “So, is this your little woman?” Adrian asked now looking at Carlee.
“Leave her out of this,” Caiden growled.
“What a beauty she is. Just as beautiful as your mother was at that age. Tell me, have you bit her yet?”
“I said to leave her alone. Just go back to wherever you were and leave me and my family alone, or else,” Caiden said menacingly.
“Or what boy? It’s not like you could kill me. I’m your father,” Adrian said laughing.
“You are not my father,” he yelled as he looked around for some kind of weapon. Not caring about the tent, he took one of the wooden stake out of the ground and held it in his hand, while glaring at Adrian. “Now go back to hell where you belong.” He said as he used his super speed and strength and stabbed Adrian in the heart.
With a hand gripping on to the stake, he fell to the ground, writhing in pain. Colleen took the silver charm of her necklace and placed it on his forehead. His forehead began to turn grey, and soon he disintegrated into ashes.
“Hopefully he’s gone for good this time,” Colleen mumbled as she went over to Dan where he wrapped her in a tight embrace.
Caiden looked at Carlee once more, who was now just staring at the piles of ashes. “So, I guess you know the truth about me now. I would understand if you want to break up with me and never see me again,” he said looking at the ground.
There was a dead silence as the adults walked away, leaving just those two standing there to sort it out. Caiden waited for her to say something, anything. He looked up at her, wondering what was taking so long when he saw her smiling.
“Silly Caiden. Don’t you remember what I said that one day in the library when we had that chat about vampires? I don’t hate you. In fact, I have a question for you,” she said walking closer to him.
“And what is that?” he asked hopefully.
“Am I your Beloved?” she asked looking into his eyes.
“Yes, you are,” he said smiling. “I’ve known that you were my Beloved since that first day in kindergarten. I remember that day oh so well, because that day I heard your voice without you actually talking. I realized then that I could hear your thoughts. I’ve wanted to tell you so much since then, but I had to wait until the right time, when I thought that you would accept me for what I am.”
“Caiden, bite me,” Carlee said exposing her neck to him.
“Carlee, are you sure?” he asked, his voice filled with hope.
“Caiden, I love you with all my heart. I want to be with you forever. And now it really can be forever. Make me yours, please?”
Taking his time, he slowly lowered his lips to her necks as his fangs elongated. He could feel the pulse in her neck as he bit down, taking a little of her blood. He then took one of his nails and made a cut in his wrist to draw blood. Placing his wrist to her lips, she drank in his blood before the cut healed itself.
Caiden stepped back and looked at her lovingly, as her eyes flickered, the change beginning to take its effect.
“You know, you’re going to have to tell me all this stuff about being a vampire,” she said yawning.
"Don’t worry, I will. We have all the time in the world to talk about it. I promise.”
So, I hope you all liked this!! I personally didn't think this was my best chapter, but ohs wells. Remember to read my other story "Watching Over You".
