I Can't Love You [4]

     "Mom, when are you going to tell Aira?" Benjiman asked.

       She sighed. "I don't think she's ready to find out that I'm not her real mother!Or yours for that matter."

      That took Aira back, and almost fainted.She stared at the bottom of the stares tears flooding her eyes.Benjiman and her mom walked to the stairs and stopped at the bottom not noticing her there. "I was that age when you told me that you weren't my real mom.Tell her."

       "Fine." they started to walk up the stairs, but saw Aira.

        "Too late." Aira said coldly.

       Aira locked her bedroom door and held onto Ryland tight.

The next few days were long and dreary for Aira.The silence between her mother and her were so thick you could cut it with a knife.The school days went by quickly, and Aira thought they went by way too fast for her liking.Ryland and her came to an understanding.She expressed that she did have feelings for him, but that she wasn't sure she could have a relationship yet.He understood that and said that he  could wait for her.Now she was on her way home, she had decieded to walk today.She was walking around the corner to find Ryland kissing another girl.She stood still and remained silent.She stood for atleast 5 seconds. What is he sucking off her face or something?! Aira was blazing with fury.How could he do this to her?!He knew how she felt about him, and she thought he felt the same way, but obviously not!She walked through the leaves to the back yard, making a lot more noise than intended.She saw Ryland look her way and his mouth fell open, but Aira simply rolled her eyes and shook her head and continued to walk to the back door.When she got inside her room she closed the door, without locking it, and sat at her desk with her books.She got out her laptop and started writing her essay.Tears blurred her vision but she kept working.Moments later Benjiman walked in.

   "Aira?You alright?" he asked concerned.

   She shook her head no and flew into his arms. "No.I thought Ryland felt the same way, but he was just out there sucking some girls face off!"

    Benjiman tensed. "What?"

    Aira nodded.She felt Benjiman pull away to walk outside. "No!" she grabbed his arm. "Don't Benjiman, I'll deal with it my own way okay?" she said softly.

    "Fine, but if he hurts you anymore you come to me." he said then kissed the top of her head before walking out.

    He met Ryland on the stairs and shook his head, and rolled his eyes the exact same way Aira does.Now he knew where she got it.Come to think of it, they both look a lot alike.Same bone structure, same eyes, and same hair color, and they were both very good looking people.Ryland slowly went to her room and stood in the doorway a minute to se how she was reacting to this.She was standing with her back turned  to him, then she ran her hand through her hair and sat down at her desk again.She sat staring at the laptop for a few minutes, almost starting to type a few times, but not knowing where to start.So, she closed her laptop and leaned back in the chair putting her head back, and closing her eyes.

   He put his hand to his head then moved it through his hair. "Aira?"

   She jumped startled by his voice.Her chair fell backwards and she rolled out of it. "Ow."

   He tried not to laugh, only smiled.Aira saw his smile and her heart melted, and she couldn't help but smile, but then remembered the face-sucking session and quickly replaced it with a frown.She got up, put her chair back, and sat on the bed facing him. "What do you need?" she tried to sound cheerful.

   "Are you okay?I mean after what you saw..I  didn't-"

   "I'm fine." she cut him off.

   He walked over to her. "No your not.I sat here and watched you.You couldn't focus on your report, you couldn't keep your breathing steady, and you can't look me in the eyes." he lifted her chin to meet his gaze.

    "I've never been good with reports, I was mad at my mom, and maybe I don't wanna look at you." she spat back listing all the reasons in the order he had stated the comments.

    He looked down. "Aira, just because I like you.. a lot.. and you like me, doesn't mean I have to wait for you, because who knows how long it would have taken for you to be in "that place" of dating again." He crossed his arms infront of his chest.

     "Don't you think I know that?But come on Ryland!Get real, if you liked me as much as you said you wouldn't have done this to me.I know for a fact I wouldn't.. no I COULDN'T have done this to you." she sucked her lips in and bit down on them.She stood and walked to the doorway. "But I get it."

      "There's another thing Aira." he said taking a breath. "My grandmother wants me to move in with her."

      Aira's mouth dropped a little and her eyes went blank like she was daydreaming then she regained herself and walked out of the room.She returned with his bags packed and threw them in the floor. "Bye." is all she said, then walked down the hall into Benjiman's room.As Rland decended the stairs he heard Aira's sobs.

        Benjiman layed her on his bed and kissed her forehead. "I'm not going to hurt the kid, just make my point." He smiled at her and walked out after Ryland.He caught him going down the walkway.He opened the door and called for him. "Ryland!"

         Ryland turned around.He sighed dropping his head. "Benjiman.."

         Benjiman shook his head. "You broke her heart kid."

          Ryland looked away.

          "My baby sister is sitting in my room crying her eyes out because of you.She loves you, I can see it in her eyes.It breaks my heart when she cries, but I've never seen her this bad before.She looks pale, tired, and her eyes are so dull.She's a strong girl, and she's never been this hurt before."

            Ryland shook his head. "I know.When I was leaving she basically threw my bags at me and told me to get out."

        Benjiman laughed. "Thats my baby sister." He turned and walked to the door. "But remember this, you've probably just made the biggest mistake of your life.If she gives you a second chance, you'll be the luckiest guy on earth."

         Ryland nodded as Benjiman walked into the house.He walked to his grandmothers and collapsed on his bed as Stephanie walked in. "What happened Ryland?"

           "You sure are smart for a 14 year old." he commented.

            She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I'm not five, now what did you do to Aira?"

            He laughed. "Why can't you be normal like most sisters and just not care?"

            "Because I'm not normal, now spill it."

            He sighed then began the long long story and when he finished, Stephanie sighed and sat on the edge of his bed. "What were you thinking Ryland?"

            "I was thinking she wouldn't find out that way."

              Stephanie stood up and and looked at him. "You've got some major damage control to do." She smiled reassuringly as she walked out of the room.

             "You're telling me."

            Three days past and they haven't talked or really even made eye contact.Present:Aira is in her room, staring at something in her hands.

            Ryland climbed up the tree and was looking in Aira's window.She was looking at something.Tears were falling down her cheeks and she was biting her lower lip.She wiped away the tears falling down her face, just for more to  stain her porcelain skin.He watched through her window.Her mom.. well, stepmother, came to the door.She said something Ryland couldn't hear.Aira smiled up at her sadly then ran a finger softly across the smooth surface of what she was holding then got up.She put down the object in her hands, and he discovered that it was a picture... of him.

           He crawled in through the window and waited for her to come back.He took in a deep breath when she came into the room.He was standing in the corner then came out, startling her.Her eyes went wide, her mouth twisted into a saddened grimace, and her hands balled into fists.

          "Aira..I'm so sorry.Can you please, forgive me?Will you take me back?Not only as a friend, but.. as a boyfriend."

           Aira's eyes filled with tears as she made her way across the room to him.She stood directly and front of him and.....

   CLIFFHANGER!

 Okay okay..
