I Can't Love You [5]

           She raised her hand to smack him.She stood like that for a minute, but then closed her eyes, sighed, and dropped her hand to her side.She turned away from him, and looked at him through the mirror. "I... I still like you, Ryland.But I also hate you at the same time." She stared at his reflection.

     "Aira, I know what I did was wrong, and I'm sorry.But was I just supposed to wait forever for you?" he asked softly.

     She turned back around. "No." she admitted. "But I just want to be best friends again Ryland.Can we please just go back to that?Because I don't know if I want to be your girlfriend yet."

     He nodded smiling. "Of course."

     They hugged then sat talking for a while.They caught up on things, even though it had only been a short amount of time.They ate Dibs ice cream snacks while they talked.They laughed and joked about things and it felt like old times.The door bell rang and she ran to answer it, Ryland stayed in her room.Stephanie was standing there again.She smiled and sayed hi to Aira.

  "Hey Steph!What are you doing here?" she asked happily.

  She cut right to the point. "Are you and my brother okay again?" she laughed.

   "Yeah, come on up, we're talking and eating." she motioned upstairs.

   Stephanie followed Aira upstairs and walked in.Ryland smiled when he saw her.She smiled and laughed and shrugged. "Nosy." he said laughing.

   "I got it from you!" she said pointing.

   "Come here squirt." she jumpred on his lap and they sat like that for a while.

   She ate a few Dibs and drank a Sprite.They told funny stories and laughed all night.By the time they looked at the time it was midnight. "Oh, nanna is going to be so mad Ry!"

   "Oh, hey, why don't you guys stay here tonight?Steph you can stay in here with me, and Ryland can use the guest room." Aira suggested.

    Ryland smiled and looked at Stephanie, who smiled and nodded. "Awesome!"

    "I'll call Nanna." Ryland walked out of the room for a few minutes and when he came back both girls were changed into pajamas.

    "Girls do change fast." he said. The girls laughed.

   "I'll get the guest mattress and you can sleep on my bed Steph." Aira smiled her way.

   Stephanie nodded and went to the bathroom.When she came out everyone was in their own rooms and Aira had already talked to her mom about it. "Hey, you wanna put on a movie?"

    "Sure." she smiled.

   "Or we could talk about your brother." she smiled mischieveously.

    Stephanie smiled and nodded. "Let's do that."

    They both laughed quietly. "Okay, so once..."

    Stephanie told a bunch of funny stories about him, and Aira told some too.Then Stephanie asked Aira to do her hair and makeup. "Can you do my hair and makeup for me?"

    "Sure!" Aira smiled ahppy at the chance.

    "Thanks,  I've always wanted a sister so they could do my hair, but unfortunately mom didn't have another one." she laughed.

    Aira smiled. "Me too.I'll be your sister, if you'll be mine.Deal?"

    "Deal!" they both laughed.

   "You have the perfect hair for this!So pretty, I could keep it straight, or I could curl it!I think I'll leave it straight though, so I can play with it a little bit." she got out some bobby pins and started brushing her hair.She got out her straightener and plugged it up.

    Stephanie sighed. "So what all are you gonna do to my hair?"

   "Well, first I'm going ot straighten it so it is perfectly straight, then I'm going to do what I do with my hair.Put a section back and make a little bump in it.Then I'll flip the edges of your hair.It looks super cute!"

   Stephanie raised an eyebrow. "Mm, I like it."

    "Good.Ryland is going to be mad because boys will be all over you." she said while straightening strands of her hair.

     Stephanie laughed. "Yeah, once he told this guy he would hunt him down if he hurt me."

    "My brother did the same thing." she rolled her eyes smiling.

    Stephanie laughed.

    "So, does Ryland ever talk about me?" Aira asked.

    Stephanie rolled her eyes. "All.The.Time."

    Aira giggled while she pulled that one section of her hair back.She put a bobby pin on it to keep it in place, then she teased it to give it a bump.

    "Now, I just gotta flip the ends, then we'll do your makeup, okay?"

     Stephanie nodded. "So, how do you feel about Ryland?"

     Aira sighed flipping a few pieces of hair. "I really, really like him, but I don't wanna get hurt again."

     "He likes you, a lot.He never stops talking about you, I catch him looking at pictures of you, and sometimes I'll bet he daybreams about you." she laughed, so did Aira.

      Aira finished the last piece of her hair. "Wow, really?Okay so how do you like your hair?" she turned the chair around.

     Stephanie stared in awe. "Woah.I love it!"

    "Now for your makeup." she said turning off her straightener. "Since you already wear liner, I'm going to add some blush and some other stuff."

     She nodded while Aira brushed on some blush.She put it lightly on her cheek bones.Then she put on some really light grey eye shadow.Then she turned Stephanie around to see her reflection.She stared and smiled.She hugged Aira then heard someone at the doorway.They both turned to see Ryland. "I knew I heard some giggling girls."

 He looked at Stephanie. "Stephanie!Woah, take off that makeup before some boy sees you or I'm going to have to beat some 14 year old up and go to jail!"

  Stephanie laughed. "Aira did it for me.She is a genius with makeup and hair."

   Aira fake curtsied. "Thanks."

  After a while they all decided to go sit beside the pool and watch the stars.Aira loved being around Stephanie, because she was so sweet, and the closest thing to a little sister she had.After Stephanie went to bed, Ryland and Aira sat out by the pool a little while longer.

   "Ryland, how much do you like me?" Aira asked while laying on the concrete watching the stars.

   He smiled. "I don't like you.I love you, and a lot."

    She giggled. "Can you wait for me?"

    "Take as long as you need."

    She grabbed his hand. "I don't think I'll need that long.Just long enough to know that you aren't going to hurt me again." she looked over at him.

    "I would never hurt you on purpose Aira.I swear."

     She smiled. "I know, but I still need some time.Because I'm not sure if I want this friendship to go an further Ry."

     "That's fine.But will this help you choose?" He leaned over and kissed her lips.She kissed back, then when they pulled away she smiled.

       "I don't know.It might persuade my decision.You never know."  she got up flipped her hair, then waved and walked inside and teased him.She walked into her room, and he stood in the doorway.She smiled and looked into his eyes. "Night." then she closed the door.

     His mouth formed into an 'O' whistling shape and he raised his eyebrows. "Wow."
