[Zach]
I can't believe she's married. This sucks.
"Hi." I hear the angel like voice say.
"Umm...hi? What are you doing here?" I manage to say after a few seconds.
"Eatting silly!" she laughs.
"Oh, ok?" I'm so confussed.
Around the cafeteria, alot of people were looking at us. I didn't mind. She didn't seem to mind either. People came by and sat a couple seats down, but no one came and sat down right by us.
"So...why did you move here?" she asked looking into my eyes. I thought maybe she could see right threw me, but she didn't see that I loved her. God there I go with LOVE again.
"Do you really want to know?" I asked. I was a little afraid she would say yes. I guess I can tell her. She probably won't talk to me ever again though.
"Why wouldn't I want to know the truth?" she asked puzzled.
"It's depressing."
"Oh well, I think I can handle it." She said with much confidence in herself.
"Ok, well when I was about 8 years old my dad started drinking. He was always beating on me and my mom. One day he came home really drunk and put my mom into the hospital. After that he took his own life. When my mom got out of the hospital she packed up our stuff and we moved. She has had a million boyfrineds and whenever one breaks up with her, she eats a whole birthday cake by herself, packs up our things, and we move again. Now that I'm 18 I don't have to move with her again, but I don't think she will be moving anytime soon." I hated telling her that. It made me feel like an idiot.
She was staring at me. Like she was trying to think of the right words to say.
"I'm sorry, that's a really sad story." she whispered. It looked like she was going to start to cry. I wanted to go over and confort her, but something inside my gut tell me I shouldn't.
"Now that you know about my life, I want toknow about yours. For starters, what's with the ring?"
I can see the panic fliker across her face.
"Umm, well, umm. Last year when I was a junior I had a boyfriend maned Grant Darrick. We fell in love...you know the story. Well anyways, Grant was the captain of the football tean and out of tradition he had to throw a party for all the football players and their girlfriends. Grant refused to have alcohol at the party, but like any other party some showed up. On the way to the store to by some more food one of the players ran into the side of Grant's truck. Grant was killed on impact. Me, a broken collarbone, a broken rib, and a broken heart. Whoever ran into us that night was drunk. He went to jail, I went to the hospital, and Grant went to the morgue. We were going to get married this summer. I guess I wear the ring to remember him." she looked up for the first time since telling the story. She had tears in her eyes. It was heart-breaking to see. "I guess I should wear it on the other hand though."
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to pry." I was sorry.
"It's ok, you would have found out eventually. Come on, let's go to English." With that she got up, took my hand, and we went to class.
